Bill Coffin's Septimus Cancelled
Posted 2008-03-31 13:01:58 by JoyceGreenholdt

West End Games hellsreach Reports: West End Games regrets to inform retailers and consumers that the long-anticipated D6 release of Bill Coffin’s Septimus is to be cancelled. The proposed release, a large 400 page, full color book, intended for a fully printed, retail release has been deemed too expensive to produce.

“For nearly a year I’ve been looking for a way in which to make the book profitable, but without a large print run — which preorders could not justify — the numbers just couldn’t work,” said WEG’s Eric Gibson.

The Septimus property is to be returned to the writer, Bill Coffin. He plans to seek new avenues to publish the property.
Consumers who have already preordered Bill Coffin’s Septimus will be refunded by West End Games in full.

Are you kidding me? Come on folks. Release it POD? PDF it to start? Indie Press Revolution? Lulu?!?!? My god, there are a plethora of "small indie publishers" doing this and doing just fine.

Is WEG really that big that you can't operate like an Indie company? I am flabbergasted. A terribly poor decision that has a plethora of easy solutions.

Sa la Vie I guess...
