This alphabetical listing of local history books by community name
and some of the Calgary-area repositories
where they may be located was compiled by Judie Riddell
& Marlene Knott in 1999 in order that those conducting
research into Alberta's history and family history, might have ready
access to what kinds of information are available.
Our volunteers have consulted the repositories in question; we
do not necessarily have a copy of the books listed, knowledge of
exact postal addresses, or whether they are still in print.
In the case of the Calgary
Public Library, University
of Calgary, and Glenbow Museum,
Archives & Library, inter-library loan arrangements are
available for those who are not in the Calgary area. See also www.yourhistory.ca
for local histories that may still be in print. Another way to try
and get your own copy of a local history is to research the postal
address of the publisher/author. This can frequently be found by
visiting the National
Library of Canada website and searching for the title in question.
This Local Histories listing is also available as a paper publication.
