Freedom of information

Transport for London is a public authority under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

From 1 January 2005, any information held by Transport for London and its subsidiary companies is accessible by the public on written request, subject to certain limited exemptions.

Classes of information already made available by TfL are listed in the Transport for London Publication Schemes accessible on this website.

How to make a request

Requests for information not listed in the Publication Schemes must be made in writing, detailing the information sought and giving an address for the response. Email or faxed communication is also acceptable. Requests will be dealt with as quickly as possible and within the FoI Act's statutory timescales. In some cases, requests may be passed to other partner organisations within the Greater London Authority for some or all of the information requested. Applicants will be advised of this.
