Transport for London

Reduce your driving

For some trips, our cars are undoubtedly the best option. But did you know that over half of all car trips in suburban London are under 2km, a distance that's easily walked or cycled.

Cutting down on car use can be very rewarding on the pocket, as well being good for your health and the environment.

Consider walking, cycling, public transport, and even reducing the need to travel altogether. And if you really can't do without a car, try car sharing, car clubs, greener fuels and smarter driving tips.

Initiatives like car sharing, car clubs and low emission vehicles not only help you to reduce your fuel bill but also save on charges such as parking, the Congestion Charge and other associated running costs.

Can you work from home or be more flexible with your working hours? We've teamed up with Workwise  to create a better work life balance for many thousands of Londoners.
