Annual EEO Public File Report

The purpose of this EEO Public File Report is to comply with Section 73.2080(C)(6) of the FCC's 2002 EEO Rule.  This Report has been prepared on behalf of the Station Employment Unit that is comprised of the following stations:

KESQ-TV, KUNA-TV, KUNA-FM, KDFX-TV, and KESQ-AM and is required to be placed in the public inspection files of these stations, and posted on their websites, if they have websites.

The information contained in this report covers the time period beginning    

August 1, 2005 to and including July 31, 2006.

The FCC's 2002 EEO Rule requires that this Report contain the following information:

1.   A list of all full time vacancies filled by the station(s) comprising the Station Employment Unit during the Applicable period:

2.   For each such vacancy, the recruitment source(s) utilized to fill the vacancy (including, if applicable, organizations entitled to notification pursuant to Section 73.2080(c)(1)(ii) of the new EEO Rule, which should be separately identified, identified by name, address, contact person and telephone number:

3.   The recruitment source that referred the hiree for each full time vacancy during the Applicable Period:

4.   Data reflecting the total number of persons interviewed for full-time vacancies during the Applicable Period and the total number of interviewees referred by each recruitment source utilized in connection with such vacancies; and

5.   A list and brief description of the initiatives undertaken pursuant to Section 73.2080(c)(2) of the FCC rules.

Appendices 1, 2 and 3 which follow have been designed, in the aggregate, to provide the required information.  Please note that the numbers listed on Appendix 2 under the column entitled "Full time positions for which this source was utilized" refer to the number of the full-time job positions listed on appendix 1.

For purposes of this Report, a vacancy was deemed "filled" not when the offer was extended, but when the hiree accepted the job offer.  A person was deemed "interviewed" whether he or she was interviewed in person, over the telephone, or by e-mail.

Out Reach Program

David Spahr, Weather Anchor/Reporter, spoke to a class in Palm Springs, on Wednesday, August 3, 2005.  It was at Palm Springs High School, for a summer session under the instruction of:  Suzie Adams.

Dr. Carreone Academy

Bob Allen, General Manager, addressed a total of four classes, two each day, at Dr. Carreone Academy, Indio, California, on March 16 and 17, 2006.  The purpose of the talk was to introduce students to careers in broadcast television, including Hispanic media.  Mr. Allen placed emphasis on the need for a good general education, a college degree, and opportunities for bilingual people who want to go into radio and TV.

Boys & Girls Club - Palm Springs, CA

Human Resource Coordinator, Jody Piel, Anchor, Tamara Damante, and Assignment Desk Manager, Timothy Kiley spoke to the teenagers at the Palm Spring Boys and Girls Club - Team Center regarding employment in the broadcast industry.  The members of the club are pre-teen (12 years) to teen (17 years) all who attend schools within the Palm Springs Unified School district.  This was a question and answer format so that the members of the club could learn what types off jobs there are in the broadcast industry.

Coachella Valley Employment Expo

Human Resource Coordinator, Jody Piel, and Reporter, Darin Waller participated in the Coachella Valley Employment Expo in September of 2005.  This expo is designed to recruit and teach the public of available careers in the broadcasting industry.

Coachella Valley Employment Expo

KUNA-FM sales staff participated in the Coachella Valley Employment Expo.  The team consisted of General Manager, Martin Serna, and Account Executives, Gisela Urieta, Sal Saputo, Edward Fitz.  The employment expo is to help employers recruit and teach the public about careers in the radio/broadcasting industry.

National Association of Broadcasters (NAB)

Mr. Bob Thompson (Attorney representing KESQ & KDFX-CA) attended an ABA/FCBA Seminar on FCC Regulations, held during the NAB convention in Vegas in April 2006.  During the seminar the attorneys participated in discussions on EEO rules and policies.
