Books
- The Phil Rickman Website
Crime/Supernatural fiction (or fact?). Wonderfully captures the essence of
Herefordshire and its people.
- Ian Rankin
Highly evocative novels featuring Edinburgh cop John Rebus.
- Terry Pratchett
I enjoy Pratchett's descriptions of everyday objects without naming them.
After he's talked about it for a while one can say "hey, that's a Discworld shopping trolley!"
- Barbara Hambly
Particularly her "Sun Wolf and Starhawk" series.
- Susanna Gregory
Well-researched Medieval mysteries set in ‘Michaelhouse’,
a lost college of Cambridge. Added 9 Sep 2006.
- Michael Jecks
More Medieval mystery, set in 14th century Devon.
- Anne Perry
Needs no introduction to her fans! Mysteries set in the middle and late 19th
century, and her WWI series featuring the fortunes of the typically
middle-to-upper-class Reavley family.
Professional
Entertainment
- The Internet Movie Database
To remind myself of the titles of films I've enjoyed, or
those famous lines, remembered as other than they were...
Dirty Harry did NOT say "Come on punk, make my day"
any more than Humphrey Bogart said "Play it again, Sam!"
- Misheard Lyrics
A slightly different slant on the same theme...
- In the 70s
Music, Movies and Television, site created by the author of 'Misheard Lyrics'.
- Alternatively, for when you can't remember where those pesky words going
round and round your brain are from.... the Real Lyrics -

Sixties City and
1960's British Pop Culture
I began to enjoy music when I was a pre-teenager in the 1950s, but in the 1960s it became so much
more "available"...
- Charlie Kunz Home Page
One for my dad, who (I think) gave me my love of music.
As a pianist himself, he was a great fan of Charlie Kunz, and was inspired to play like
him with his 'soft touch'. Kunz was a Pennsylvanian American
who came to England in the 1920s and gained an immediate following as a pianist
and band leader. A Dutch-based site, available in 5 languages. :)
- And for something completely different to Charlie Kunz...
Glam Rock of the 70's.

- Whoops, I've been seduced by rockabilia again...
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
All I did was a Google search for Fats Domino, honest!
