How to register

You can download Low Emission Zone (LEZ) vehicle registration forms and guidance notes on this page.

Alternatively, you can obtain copies of forms and guidance notes by calling 0845 607 0009. Callers from outside the UK should dial +44 (0) 20 7310 8998.

Registration process

Please note, applications must be received by us at least 10 working days before you drive your vehicle within the LEZ.

Step 1

If you are unsure of how your vehicle is affected and you are the owner of a vehicle registered in Great Britain, you can check whether your vehicle meets the LEZ emissions standards using our online compliance check.

If the compliance checker doesn't find your vehicle or you believe its status is incorrect, please go to step 2.

Step 2

Read the guidance notes for detailed information on who needs to register and how to complete the registration form.

Step 3

Complete a LEZ Vehicle Registration Form (PDF 1.25MB) and supply photocopies of the relevant vehicle registration documents. You will also need to provide any additional documentary or photographic evidence as outlined in the guidance notes for your application type.

A separate registration form must be completed for each affected vehicle.

You can either email or post us your form.

Step 5

TfL will confirm in writing and by email whether your application has been successful. Until you receive this confirmation, you should continue to pay the daily charge if you wish to drive your vehicle within the LEZ. You can also check the progress of your application using the compliance check.

If you drive within the zone before receiving confirmation of registration and you do not pay a daily charge, you may be liable for a Penalty Charge.
