What are the minimum computer specifications required for installation?
Windows
• Microsoft Windows XP with service pack 2 or Windows Vista
• Pentium 233 MHz processor or faster (300 MHz is recommended)
• 64 MB of RAM (128 MB is recommended)
• 1.5 megabytes (MB) of available space on the hard disk
• Keyboard and Mouse
• Super VGA (800 x 600)or higher resolution
• Sound card (optional)
• Speakers or headphones (optional)

How can I set my CNN.com Desktop Alerter Preferences?
The Preferences can be set by clicking the Preferences icon in the bottom right corner of the application. You can manage what types of alerts you would like to receive (text and/or video), the length of the snooze option, and an audio option.

How do I set the snooze option?
The snooze option can be set by clicking the snooze icon in the bottom right corner of the application. The default is set to 1 hour, but you can change the length of the snooze to 30 minutes or 2 hours via the Preferences icon.

How do I retrieve alerts if I close the window?
Simply double-click the Desktop Alerter icon in the sys tray, and the Desktop Alerter will launch. If an alert is still active, it will appear in the alert window.

How do I uninstall the CNN.com Desktop Alerter?
The application can be uninstalled from the Add/Remove Programs menu in Windows. Access the Add/Remove Programs menu by clicking on the Start button and then Control Panel. In the Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove Programs. In the Add/Remove Programs menu that appears, locate CNN.com Desktop Alerter and click on it. Click on the Change/Remove button on the right-hand side of the window and the uninstall wizard will launch.

Can I receiving additional alerts other than breaking alerts?
At this time, the application is meant to alert users of Breaking News only.

Why are some alerts text and some video?
Many stories from CNN.com do not have video associated with them at the time the news breaks. When we have live video of Breaking News, you will receive a Breaking News Video Alert with links to the live video. When the story is text only, you will be directed to CNN.com where you can follow the story as it develops.

Are there any sounds associated with an alert?
The audio notification default setting is off. You can turn the audio notification setting on by clicking the Preferences icon in the bottom right corner and placing a checkmark in the audio notification box.
