3 DC Shell Stitch Photo Example and Easy Edging Pattern
To make a 3 dc shell: Work three double crochet stitches all in one place. In the example above, I alternated the 3 dc shell stitches with single crochet.
To make this example as an afghan border or thread edging:
Work edging as follows: Chain 3 (counts as first dc), 1 dc in same sc, * ch 1, skip 1 sc, sc in next sc, ch 1, skip 1 sc, 3 dc in next sc; repeat from * across, ending with 2 dc in last sc.
Instructions for the easy 3 DC Shell pattern shown above:
Work a foundation row in stitch of your choice (such as single crochet or double crochet). Pattern Row: Chain 3 (counts as first double crochet), 1 dc in same st, * skip 1 st, 3 dc in next st; repeat from * across, ending with 2 dc in last st.
