To make a 2 dc shell: Work two double crochet stitches all in one place.

Instructions to learn how to make the easy 2 DC Shell pattern shown above:
(Abbreviations: dc = double crochet, st = stitch)

Work a foundation row in stitch of your choice (such as single crochet or double crochet).

Pattern Row: Chain 3 (counts as first double crochet), 1 dc in same st, * skip 1 st, 2 dc in next st; repeat from * across.
