Fifty years ago last
summer, the Korean War began when nearly 100,000 North Korean soldiers swarmed south in a
surprise, early morning invasion of South Korea. Over the next three years American
soldiers, sailors, Marines, and airmen fought valiantly to preserve democracy for the
people of South Korea. The 131 of them who received the Medal of Honor exist in our
memory to remind us of the heroism of all those who served on those foreign shores. |
