    I subscribed to Telegraph Crossword Society last year, why am I being charged again this year?
    Gift subscriptions and Holiday subscriptions are one-off payments but all other subscriptions are made on an ongoing basis. This is made clear in the Terms and Conditions of membership which all payees agree to prior to making their payment. In addition, the email sent to you after you have made your payment contains details of the ongoing payment agreement and offers you a login and password to access your WorldPay account and alter the ongoing payment agreement.

    How do I cancel my ongoing payment agreement?

  • Use the login and password emailed to you when you completed your payment to access your WorldPay account and alter the ongoing payment agreement.
  • Alternatively, please contact us with your transaction ID and registered email address.
  • Please note that payments are taken on the basis on the ongoing payment agreement you agreed to when starting your membership and which is confirmed when you complete your payment.

    As a Mac User, can I access the interactive puzzles?
    Regrettably, some Mac users may find that they cannot do the interactive crosswords. This does not affect Mac users who use Internet Explorer.

  • Default Mac browsers like Safari or Firefox will not process the interactive crossword.
  • We suggest using Internet Explorer rather than default Mac browsers like Safari or Firefox
  • The following information might be of assistance:

    For Internet Explorer V5.0 please click on edit and then preferences, now choose web browser followed by web content and then active scripting, then tick all the options. Now, make sure the security settings are set to zone = internal and security level = Medium. You must also ensure that all Java options are enabled As an alternative, you may find that the site is better accessed using Netscape Navigator V4.7 and upwards. A free download is available from: http://channels.netscape.com/ns/browsers/download.jsp

    I see a window with a grey square and not the interactive crossword?

  • Please check that you have enabled Java in your browser.
  • Users of Internet Explorer IE4, IE5 and IE5.5 should go to Tools/Internet Options/Advanced and ensure that the box marked 'JIT compiler for virtual machine enabled' has been ticked.

  • How do I play the interactive crossword?
    Please select the clue you wish to answer by:

  • Clicking on the written clue in the box to the right hand side of the grid, which will then turn red to show it is live or;
  • Clicking on any square within the grid that forms part of your chosen clue. (If a square belongs to an across and a down clue click once for the across and twice for the down)
  • On the grid, the whole of the live clue will be shaded with the yellow box indicating the start point of anything you type.

  • At any point you can click on Check to see whether your answers are correct.
  • The correct answers are shaded green, the incorrect pink.

  • Save will store your current answers for a month in case you want to try again.
  • Restore will bring them back when the relevant grid is selected from the archive.
  • Clear will clear all letters from the grid.
  • To overwrite a mistake click onto the offending letter and type a replacement, or a space.

    If a crossword grid distorts after scrolling, please click refresh on the browser.

    As an AOL customer, can I use the crossword?
    You will be able to use the crossword but we do recommend that you log out of telegraph.co.uk and minimise your AOL browser and then try using Internet Explorer. Click on your desktop Internet Explorer icon or go to Start/Programmes to access Internet Explorer and then access www.telegraph.co.uk afresh.

    How do I print the crossword?

  • Logon using the email address and password you registered with;
  • Select the crossword you wish to print using the tabs towards the top of the page;
  • Once the grid and clues appear, select the 'print' option towards the top right of the screen and between the 'previous solution' and 'online' buttons - do not use the print function on your browser as this will print the screen and not the printer friendly option.
  • Why does the crossword grid not load?
    If the crossword grid does not immediately download please run the following checks.

    Ensure that you have Java enabled by taking a look at your browser's settings. Typically when people report the grid as not loading, the problem is due to their Java settings.

    Refresh the page until the grid loads.

    The grid may not load for dozens of reasons most to do with your PCs processing power, the stability of your connection to the internet or your browser's settings.

    How do I access the crossword archive?
    Click on the search archive button to search crosswords going back to the start of 2002.
