Operations General Manager - Data Warehouse Construction

Job Ref: 0101986 Job Type: Permanent Employer Type: Direct Employer Date Added: 17/01/2008
Employer: Undisclosed
Location: United Kingdom
Salary: £100000 - £150000
Benefits: c. £100-150k + Equity in this part of the business.

My client is planning to build what will be probably Europe’s largest commercial hosting centre or ‘Data warehouse’. It will be in the region of 200,000 to 300,000 sq ft, c 20,000sqm, housing up to 15,000 racks.

They are initially planning two such centers. Due to power and security requirements they will be relatively remotely situated. Such a building, when fully equipped, will require tens of megawatts and it is my client’s intention to make the facility as carbon neutral as possible. This will require investigation, and deployment, of a number of innovative approaches and technologies.

The requirement is for someone who will work with the founding Directors as General Manager from the start of the project delivering the centres and, if all goes well, run the centres long term.

You must have built and managed an entity that requires most of the elements that such a project will entail, e.g. power, gas or electricity and equipment of a technology orientation, not necessarily IT. You will have worked as prime interface with a subcontractor responsible for the build or build out or both. And you will then ideally have managed the entity after if was completed.

Located probably in the middle of England or able to relocate to the area, you must be willing to be located on site for a number of months.
