An superb opportunity for an Operations Director with a thorough understanding of Operations management in a complex, low volume, high value, capital equipment manufacturing business, from procurement and engineering to manufacturing and logistics. You will drive change and make a real difference to the way we operate at a very exciting stage of our development.
As a key member of the Executive Team, you will define and deliver a Supply Chain and Operations Strategy which enables the future growth of our successful, fast-growing high technology business. You will be responsible for leading, motivating and inspiring the manufacturing and materials teams to deliver World Class Supply Chain performance. With effective integration of corporate and local resources across the business, you will boost the existing commitment of the teams to add impact and enhance performance.
Oxford Instruments is a high technology tool and systems business. It is a global company with manufacturing facilities, offices and service centres, worldwide and an annual turnover of £150m. Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology offers tools and leading-edge processes for the precise engineering of micro- and nano-structures, and is currently planning a move to a purpose-built facility in a High-Tech business park just off J21 of the M5.
You have been closely involved with simplifying, improving and implementing lean principles into a total supply chain and you can demonstrate understanding of the key drivers and outputs of a Sales and Operations Planning processes to improve business performance. You have strong negotiation and communication skills and a track record of long term relationship management with key suppliers. You have worked with manufacturing partners to develop the supplier base to meet the needs of the business in terms of delivery, quality and cost.
To succeed in this high profile role you demonstrate a “can-do” attitude, with the confidence to engage and coach others in delivering enhanced performance. You view mistakes as positive opportunities for improvement, using experience, benchmarking, innovation and effective team-working to motivate and deliver results.You have a science or engineering based degree (or equivalent) and ideally you will have gained an MBA or equivalent professional qualification.
