Introduction:
Since the inception of the HomeOfHeroes website four years ago, I have always attempted to make our site informational, but never controversial. Our intent has NOT changed with this new feature. Rather, we hope that "Talking Points" will inspire dialog that will, in an open forum and exchange of opinions, cause us all to critically assess our viewpoints and observations.
In June of 2002 I posted a story about Medal of Honor recipient John Finn's sad treatment by security employees at the New Orleans airport. The response to that story was exceptional, and the volume of email I received about it demonstrated that our visitors not only wanted to read the story, but to comment on it. From that learning experience for myself, the concept for this section of our site was born.
Each month we will feature a thought-provoking editorial, some by myself, and from time to time, from others. YOU, our readers, will have the opportunity through a form at the bottom of the page, to add your own comments to the Op/Ed piece.
When a new piece is posted at the beginning of the month, the thread for replies will be closed on the previous month's article. (Viewer comments will still be available for reading, however.) As this section of our site grows, we will maintain a topical archive of previous editorials, for those who want to read articles and view comments from the past.
