AMC FAQs

Q: How is it possible that Ryan is the biological father of Annie's daughter?

Lucy Merriam (Emma) and Cameron Mathison (Ryan
— ABC

A: When Ryan first came to Pine Valley, he gave donations to a sperm bank to pocket some cash. The late Dr. Greg Madden used some of Ryan's little swimmers to fertilize Annie's egg when she was hoping to become pregnant. The result? Emma.

Q: How many children does Adam Chandler have?

Adam (David Canary)
— ABC

A: Adam and his late first wife, Althea Patterson, are the adoptive parents of Skye, who currently resides in GH's Port Charles. His surviving biological children are Hayley (by Arlene), JR (by Dixie) and Colby (by Liza). Adam also had a daughter, Anna Claire, with then-wife Gloria, who passed away shortly after her premature birth.

Q: How many times have Tad and Dixie been married?

Dixie (Cady McClain) and Tad (Michael E. Knight)
— ABC

A: Three. The couple first fell in love in 1989 and were married after Tad proposed in a chicken suit. Thanks to Dixie's meddling Uncle Palmer, they divorced shortly after. Like any supercouple, they eventually found their way back to each other and were set to get married again in 1990. Unfortunately, Tad fell off a bridge and was presumed dead. In true soap opera fashion, he returned to town (and from the grave) in 1992 with amnesia. Once he got his memory back, Dixie was married to Brian Bodine. Dixie and Brian split, but Tad eventually married Brooke (the mother of his son, Jamie). Soon after, Tad and Dixie couldn't deny their feelings anymore and began an affair. They were eventually married again in 1994. Two years later, Tad cheated on Dixie with Liza and she filed for divorce and fled town. In 1998, she returned and yet again the "together forever" couple found their way back to each other. In 1999, they married for the third time, but divorced (again) in 2002.

Q: Are Susan Lucci (Erica) and legendary comedienne Phyllis Diller related?

Susan Lucci and Phyllis Diller

A: Digest still isn't quite sure how this particular rumor got started, but the answer is: A resounding no. There is no biological relationship between Lucci and Diller.

Q: What is Kendall and Zach's song?

Zach (Thorsten Kaye) and Kendall (Alicia Minshew)
— ABC

A: "Loneliest Star," by Seal.

Q: Where are all of Julia Santos's siblings?

Julia (Sydney Penny)
— ABC

A: Maria and Mateo both reside in California; she settled there in 2005 and he's lived there since 2002. Anita left Pine Valley in 2006, to join her sister in California. Rosa was last seen in October 2001 and is presumed to have moved to Texas.

Q: Who was Mary to Jeff Martin?

Jeff martin (John James)
— ABC

A: Mary Kennicott was Jeff's wife. They grew close while Jeff was still married to Erica and wed following their divorce. In 1975, she was killed by burglars who invaded their home.

Q: What is the poem that appears in AMC's opening credits?

— ABC

A: The poem reads:
"The great and the least
The weak and the strong
The rich and the poor
In sickness and health
In joy and sorrow
In tragedy and triumph
You are All My Children."
It is from this poem that Agnes Nixon, AMC's creator, culled the show's title.

Q: How many members of AMC's original cast remain with the show?

Joe (Ray MacDonnell)
— AMC

A: Two: Susan Lucci (Erica) and Ray MacDonnell (Joe). Ruth Warrick (ex-Phoebe), who died in 2005, was also an original cast member. These actors have been with AMC for its entire run, beginning with its premiere on January 5, 1970.

Q: How are Jamie and JR related?

Jamie and JR (Justin Bruening and Jacob Young)
— ABC

A: JR is the son of Adam and Dixie, who was married to Tad, so Jamie (Tad's son by Brooke) is his stepbrother. Although the two are not biologically related, they grew up considering themselves brothers.
