Dorian figured out that Viki has been in Paris, Texas all these months. "Viki," Dorian exclaimed, "from Paris, Texas. She's a waitress." Dorian kept asking questions and got Charlie to admit things with Viki were past the "just friends" stage. Charlie admitted not knowing Viki's last name. "Folks just call me Charlie B," he said. Dorian asked Charlie for the scoop on Viki. "She has a whole other life somewhere else," he said, and admitted knowing nothing about Viki's other life. Dorian looked at the photo again. "Oh my, this is the most amazing coincidence," Dorian said with a big smile. Dorian went on to admit she'd been to the Bon-Jour Café. Dorian invited Charlie to stay as long as he needed. Charlie didn't want to impose, but Dorian reminded him that he practically saved her life outside of the Buchanan ranch. "No arguments," she insisted.
John and Todd went full speed ahead to Paris, Texas. They arrived at the parking lot of the Bon-Jour Café and approached the diner.
Marcie barged into the café and saw Viki. "Why are you here? Did your brother send you?" Marcie asked. "Why are you dressed like that?" she continued. Despite asking so many questions, a frazzled Marcie didn't want to talk to Viki and demanded that Viki hand over Marcie's bag with her passport in it. Viki replied she wasn't going to let Marcie leave with "that little boy" and began to call the police. Marcie pulled a gun on her. Viki begged Marcie to put the gun down, but she refused. Viki gave her back her bag, but Marcie saw Todd and John at the door. Todd demanded that Marcie open up. Through the glass door, both Marcie and Todd aimed guns at each other. John urged Todd to just wait it out. Marcie asked John if Michael was okay and was relieved to learn he was. Marcie began to sob. She grabbed her gun and showed John and Todd that Viki was now her hostage.
Natalie visited Miles, who didn't think he wanted to keep living at the carriage house. Natalie commended him on his desire not to hurt Roxy. She told him about her recent romantic disaster with "Uncle" Jared. Natalie assured Miles that Roxy would get over him. "She falls in love all the time," Nat claimed. Nash tracked down Natalie and was glad he got to her before Jared did. "I don't want to lose my vineyard," he explained. Nash brought her up to speed on Jared's hope to sell the vineyard to Buchanan Enterprises. Natalie doubted that Jared's proposal would get by the BE board.
Jared accused Jessica of taking acting lessons when she claimed to be Tess.
He knew all about DID and admitted to doing research on the syndrome. Jared reminded Tess that because of her he lost two years of his life in jail and said he wasn't interested in joining forces with her. Tess finally got through to Jared (or so it seemed) when she said she wanted to make jackasses of the Buchanans. Tess said she (as Jessica) would support his motion. Tess promised Jared she'd convince the Buchanans to vote for his proposal. Jared said he doubted the proposal would fly with her one vote. Tess reminded him that Jessica had all the Buchanan "losers" wrapped around her little finger. Jared appeared to believe her, but then Nash showed up. "What's going on, Jessica?," Nash asked his startled wife. Jessica went back to being Jessica and covered. Nash looked at her quizzically, then accused Jessica of pretending to be Tess.
In bed, Adriana and Rex talked about future visits to La Boulaie. Adriana told Rex about her showdown with Blair. She blurted out that Blair now knows that they knew about baby Tommy's parentage for a long time. A panicked Rex said they would probably have to get married at Statesville. Rex and Adriana looked up all the various crimes they could be charged with. Rex offered to go to jail for their wrongdoings. Adriana wondered what Blair and Todd would do with her for "screwing with their lives." Rex and Adriana donned their coats. Rex came up with a plan: they'd go visit Dorian and beg for her help.

Dorian insisted that Charlie stay at La Boulaie, despite his awkwardness at accepting her invitation. Adriana and Rex dropped by. Dorian tried to be happy with the news of their engagement but couldn't muster much of a smile. "Are you going to congratulate us, or what?" Adriana asked. Dorian kissed them both and then demanded to see the ring, which of course wasn't there. Adriana explained that the original ring was part of a police investigation.
Adriana and Rex insisted that they discuss the Christmas debacle, which included Adriana's confession that she and Rex had known about Tommy's parentage for a long time. Dorian didn't want to deal with it. She introduced Charlie to Adriana and Rex. Charlie panicked, looked at a business card of Roxy's that was on Dorian's desk and immediately identified himself as Charlie Balsom. A wide-eyed Rex wondered if they might be cousins. Charlie did some fast talking and said it was a "relatively common name." Charlie didn't know any of the Balsoms Rex mentioned and didn't know Roxy Balsom. "You would remember if you had," Rex quipped. Dorian offered everyone a glass of Champagne and gave Charlie some sparkling water. Adriana and Rex left. Charlie went up to bed. Dorian didn't believe his name was Balsom for a minute. She turned on the TV and saw a breaking news story out of Paris, Texas. In fact, most of Llanview's residents were watching the unfolding story.
The shock was two-fold: First the news, as explained by Todd, that Marcie was there holding someone hostage, and that the hostage was Viki Lord.
Marcie demanded that Todd and John back off or she'd shoot Viki. She assured Todd that Tommy was fine. The men tried to reason with her but she pulled down the shutters. Viki tried to convince Marcie to do the right thing. "This gun is not who you are," she reasoned. Marcie went on to say that "everyone else has lied to me, including you." Viki claimed she didn't know Marcie was Sally Ann until a few days ago. "What happens now is up to you. I can help you get out of this," Viki offered to a disbelieving Marcie. She rocked Tommy quietly as Viki went to get them some coffee. Marcie refused to tell Viki about her plans. "Do you speak Spanish?" Viki asked, trying to make small talk. Marcie asked Viki to stop talking. "I will never [give up my child]," Marcie announced. John called the diner hoping to speak to Marcie. "Don't hang up," he begged. John asked Viki how she was and then asked her if he thought Marcie could pull the trigger. Todd threatened Marcie from the background. "His name is Tommy," she cried as she slammed down the phone. John was angry with Todd for interfering. Todd called the police and the FBI. John asked Todd for his gun.
Sirens went off and the diner was surrounded. Marcie asked for the keys to the loading dock. Viki didn't know where the keys were. Marcie got very panicky and emptied out her handbags searching for her passports. The media showed up. Todd began speaking to reporters. Marcie pointed the gun at Viki and accused her of taking the passports. "Marcie, there is nowhere you can go now. It's over," Viki said as calmly as possible. "Without money and passports, you have nowhere to go." "I know what I have to do," Marcie said as she picked up the phone and asked for John.
In Miles' hospital room, Roxy accused Natalie of being in love with Miles.
"How can I be in love with Miles when I'm in love with someone else?" she blurted out. Roxy demanded details about the object of Natalie's affection.
Natalie dodged those questions. Rex and Adriana arrived with the news of their engagement. Rex asked Roxy about Wally's side of the family and thought it might be time to do some digging into his family history. "You don't want to do that," Roxy said, suddenly serious. Roxy tried to change the subject and turned on the TV, just in time to see breaking news from Paris, Texas!
Nash couldn't believe that Jessica pretended to be Tess to trick Jared.
Jessica lied to her husband and said the hadn't planned it. She vowed to Nash that her Tess scam would destroy Jared. Nash pointed out that Jessica appeared to get off on being Tess. "And that scares the hell out of me," he confessed. Jessica denied any satisfaction in playing Tess but agreed that she wanted to put Jared in his place. She tried to convince Nash that Tess was getting to Jared. Nash wondered what might happen if Jared wanted more. "Do you trust me?" Jessica asked. "I'm begging you for the sake of our family, don't pretend to be Tess. Promise me," Nash asked. "I'm sorry, I can't do that," Jessica answered. Later, an apologetic Jess approached Nash, who was sulking on the couch. They began to kiss, but that was interrupted when Marcie's breaking news flashed across their TV screen.

Llanview residents were horrified to watch the live television coverage from Paris, Texas as the hostage situation involving Marcie and Viki worsened. At the end of the episode, jaws dropped all around at the following innocent reveal courtesy of Noelle — Viki had been a waitress at the Bon-Jour Café for the past five months.
Blair walked in on Dorian watching the broadcast, and was horrified to see Todd on the screen. "Viki's there?" Blair asked. "How is that possible?" She called Todd on his cell, but he didn't answer. "I hope he's not strangling that reporter," Dorian quipped. Blair didn't understand why Viki was there. Dorian didn't think Marcie would shoot Viki, but she hoped that someone would be able to calm Todd down. Dorian was sure Viki had her reasons for being in Paris. She smiled as she looked at the photo of Charlie and Viki. Blair asked Dorian to watch Starr and Jack so she could go down to Texas and be with Todd. Dorian called a charter plane to fly Blair down to Paris.
Natalie and Jessica talked to each other via cell phone and decided to head over to Clint's so they could all be together. Natalie didn't want to leave the TV. Roxy was sure Viki would be okay. "How do you know that?" Natalie barked. Jessica wondered to Nash why Viki had left them. "Why did she feel she had to go away?" Jessica asked. Nash assured his wife that her mom loves her and that none of this was Jessica's fault. "We all need her," Jess insisted. She vowed to call her mother every single morning from now on. Nash gave his wife a big hug, which ended when baby Bree started to cry. Natalie rushed in to the living room and caught up with Clint, Nora and Jessica. They realized that Viki had been in Paris, but it was Texas, not France. Nora didn't think Viki had lied to them, she was just protecting her privacy. "Nora, she's on national TV," the girls exclaimed. Clint called the governor. He shared with Nora, but not his daughters, that he learned that Marcie had a gun.
Miles thought all this hostage stuff was his fault. Roxy asked Rex if she had been a bad mother. "No," he assured her. Roxy then asked if he and Natalie were ashamed of her. "Absolutely not," he said, giving Roxy a mini-hug. Adriana wondered if they should call Marcie's brother, Ron. "He must be losing it," Adriana worried.
Michael was brought into the hostage situation. Todd pointed to Michael as the husband "of the lunatic that's holding my son hostage." Michael asked for John. John was talking to Marcie. Marcie called Todd "stupid and selfish." She heard that Michael was there and was overjoyed to hear that "Daddy would be okay." Marcie told John that everyone was fine. Viki approached Marcie, who then demanded a car, a plane and two new passports. "I am not filing a flight plan," she yelled. John didn't think that was a good idea. "What does she want?" Todd asked. "The impossible," John replied. Viki, not looking too good, went to make more coffee. Todd picked up a call from Blair. "I wish you were here," he told his wife. Todd brought Blair up to speed on the situation. "For a McBain,"
Todd said of Michael, "he's okay. But he [Tommy/Sam] is still my kid." Michael begged John to let him talk to Marcie.
John made arrangements to get Marcie what she wanted. "You got a problem with that?" John said when Todd questioned him. John explained that they were going to let Marcie think she was getting what she asked for, giving her time to assess her situation. He hoped that Viki could get through to her. Viki and Marcie sat with cups of coffee as Viki shared how much she had enjoyed being a mom. She tried to get the gun but Marcie jumped up. "Don't you move," she said, pointing the gun at Viki. She begged Marcie to put the gun down. Marcie said she'd met so many terrific people on the way to Texas who had been good to her. "Just because we needed the help," Marcie sobbed. Marcie asked Viki why she was working as a waitress. "What are you doing here?" she asked. "I came here looking for a safe place where I could think. Except it's not safe anymore," Viki replied. Marcie declared that this behavior "is who I am now." Viki disagreed. "Tommy's life is not at stake here. Yours is, Marcie," she tried to explain. Marcie didn't want Tommy to go through the loss of losing his mother "when he doesn't have to." Viki asked if herself. Marcie began to think. "I'm his mother. He needs me," Marcie reasoned. She told Viki all about how she cared for Tommy. Viki tried to explain that Todd was a good father to Starr and Jack and told Marcie she was being selfish. Marcie began to laugh. "I have lost everything — my husband, my home, my family. And if I do lose my son..." she wept. Viki added that she had lost a child as well. "Letting him go will hurt you deeply," Viki agreed. She added that children needed security. "I want the life we had before Todd," Marcie moaned. "That life is over," Viki said, begging Marcie to look at things the way they are. "You can't afford this fantasy anymore," Viki said as gently as possible. Just then, Viki suffered a heart episode. "Viki, what's wrong?" Marcie worried. Viki said she needed her medication. "There's something wrong with my heart," she explained, as the phone between them continued to ring.

Nigel refused to get breakfast for Jared; he was tending to the real crisis involving real Buchanans (ouch). Jessica wondered if it might be Niki Smith posing as a waitress in Paris, Texas, but Clint, Natalie, Nora and Nash immediately negated that idea. Clint and his daughters were very anxious about Viki. A clearly upset Natalie left the living room and was followed by Jared, who brought a coat to keep her warm. Natalie snapped at him. Jared encouraged her to yell at him, as Natalie couldn't get angry with the person she really wanted to — Viki. Jessica called Natalie back in, and they watched Viki slowly leave the diner. Todd escorted her to the paramedics. Everyone hugged each other except Natalie and Jared. Instead, he kissed Natalie's head.
Noelle was frustrated by the media who kept asking what she knew about Victoria Lord Davidson, media baroness-turned-waitress. Noelle explained that Viki and Sally Ann/Marcie never worked together but she didn't know much about Viki, adding that she kept her private life private.
Moe cornered Gigi. "What's that woman going to do to our Viki?" he barked.
Gigi defended helping Marcie/Sally Ann. Gigi then told the reporter that she knew Viki and Marcie, and she also had dealings with Todd. Gigi bashed Todd on national television. Ramsey called her over. She offered to forget everything Ramsey and Todd had done to her. (Remember, they had held Gigi and Shane hostage until Gigi managed to get Marcie to come to her apartment.) Ramsey said if she made a fool of him again there would be "a price to pay." Gigi looked uneasy.
Earlier, Viki begged Marcie for her heart medication. Unfortunately, the pills were in her room across the street. Marcie was exasperated when Viki got worse and worse. Viki kept asking for help, but Marcie refused. She accused Viki of trying to trick her. "You know what sick people look like," Viki countered. "Look at me. I need my pills." When Viki nearly fainted, Marcie called John. John asked about Viki. "It's her heart, John. She needs her medication," Marcie blurted out. John suggested she let Viki walk out of there. He hinted that Marcie could be accused of murder if Viki died while in Marcie's custody. Marcie hung up the phone. John suggested they send in Michael, saying he could help both women. "This isn't who I am," Marcie insisted to Viki. There was a knock on the door; it was Michael. Marcie begged Michael to get Viki's pills but refused to let him in. Michael demanded that he be let in to examine Viki. "If Viki doesn't get the proper treatment she could die," he explained. "Okay, you can come in," Marcie relented as she opened the door and held a gun to him.
Michael began examining Viki and let her take her pills. He offered to take Viki's place as the hostage. "Viki has to go," he insisted. "Please let me help you." Marcie finally agreed. John got word that Marcie was sending Viki out. After Viki left, Michael reconnected with Tommy. "He's missed his daddy," Marcie cried during the emotional family reunion.

Todd walked a woozy Viki to the paramedics. She said Michael had probably exaggerated her condition, described the adorableness of baby Sam, and assured Todd that she was not Niki Smith. John tried to convince Todd to calm down about Marcie, to no avail. Gigi, Shane, Moe and Noelle got through the police barriers to reunite with Viki. Gigi apologized to Viki for her situation, but not for helping Marcie. Viki understood. Moe wondered if Charlie knew who Viki really was. (Odds were he wouldn't be in the dark for long....) Gigi explained to Shane that they need to keep mum about Ramsey and Todd grabbing them. When reporters wondered why über-rich Viki had stayed in Texas, Noelle blurted out it was for "a man!" Todd had Gigi pulled away for questioning as Agent Sutton asked John to intervene with Marcie.
Todd actually sounded sensitive as he talked to his sis about Marcie's desperation. "Hindsight is 20/20," Viki sighed. Meanwhile, John refused to lure Marcie out and the agent told him they'd probably have to go in. Gigi confessed to helping Marcie and got arrested. Moe and Noelle promised to take care of Shane. Todd told Viki to go to the hospital and quit hanging around the standoff. John swore to Todd that Michael would get Marcie out.
In Llanview, the relieved Buchanan clan gathered closely around the TV.
Uncle Jared was a little too close to Natalie, who decided to call John for an update. "Who are you following? My wife or your niece?" Nash sniped at a lurking Jared, accusing him of "drooling over both" sisters. Ew.
Thankfully, the gals were occupied with talking to Viki on the phone. Clint and Nora shared a moment before Clint, too, talked to Viki. "I'll explain everything to you when I get home," said a sheepish Viki to the girls. The family then boggled over Viki sticking around Paris for a man, before returning to their awkward, incest-laden personal drama at home (yes, Natalie and Jared, we're looking at you). Jessica checked on Bree, and Jared overheard her being parental. Downstairs, Nat checked in with Joey and Kevin, and Clint and Nora discussed Viki and defining their relationship for her. They decided to chuck defining it and kiss, but got interrupted by Nash. Jared insisted Jess isn't Tess, but she convinced him otherwise — and earned a kiss.
Dorian, Langston and Starr watched the news coverage, as well. "Why is she working at some grungy diner?" Langston asked about Viki. "That is a very good question!" Dorian cackled. She muted the TV, but Starr made her turn it back up, obsessing over when Sam would come out of the diner. On-screen, "Ex-Lieutenant McBain" said he had no regrets about the choices he'd made. Fed up with that and Viki's love life, Dorian flipped off the TV and asked for help planning Adriana's wedding. Starr called her cousin a traitor and pouted, so Dorian manipulatively asked Adriana's "foster sister" Langston to help.
Inside the Bon-Jour, Marcie updated Michael on Tommy's new teeth and penchant for reciting actual dialogue. "Come with us," she urged. "We can be a family again." Michael tried to give her a reality check (going on the run, holding people hostage, etc.), but Marcie was still in denial. Poor Michael pinched the bridge of his nose like he had a cluster headache, telling her, "This is the end of the line!" Cue a lot of yelling...through which Tommy remained supremely calm. (Great training for moving in with Todd.) Soon, their voices softened and Michael tearfully told Marcie she's his life and "I love you." The ringing phone interrupted their tender moment. Naïve Marcie thought the agent telling her they'd procured a plane was for real. (Hasn't she watched any TV?) "There isn't going to be a car or a plane," Michael told her. "It's a trick." They then noticed Gigi getting arrested outside. "What have I done?" Marcie moaned, realizing she'd hurt another mother and son. Michael widened the chink in her armor by describing the horrors of life on the run, saying Todd was a better parent than them right now. "We have to let him go, Marcie," he pleaded. He capped off his passionate pitch with her ring. "We are one," Marcie whispered as he slipped it on and kissed her hand. He then moved towards the door, reaching for her.
