THE 411

A California native, Rebecca Herbst became intrigued with acting when her older sister, Jennifer, appeared in a children's exercise video for Disney. The video's producer, who was also an agent, promptly arranged Herbst's first commercial audition for Banner toilet tissue, and she landed it at the tender age of 6. The gig began a long and prosperous career, spanning more than 60 national commercials.

Herbst's other passion growing up was ice skating, which she devoted herself to for 12 years. She originally planned to compete competitively, but at the age of 16, she realized she had to make a choice between skating and acting, and chose the latter.

By this point, Herbst had begun doing bit parts on movies-of-the-week, sitcoms and pilots. She landed her first regular series role on Nickelodeon's SPACE CASES, playing an alien. In 1997, she auditioned for GH's Elizabeth Webber, a mischievous teenager, who evolved into a beloved heroine.

It was on GH that Herbst met and fell in love with then-co-star Michael Saucedo. The couple wed in a romantic ceremony on Maui on June 1, 2001. Herbst gave birth to their first child, Ethan, that October. Daughter Ella followed in 2004.

In her spare time, Herbst still enjoys ice skating, along with rollerblading. She also loves to sew, a passion she inherited from her mother.

LOOK WHO'S TALKING

"[Being raised in California] was great, although you do kind of take it for granted going to the beach whenever you want, being able to swim all the time, being able to wear shorts and a T-shirt at Christmastime."— Soap Opera Weekly, 9/9/1997

"When I get on the set every morning, as soon as I'm Liz, I just want to be hugged by [Jonathan Jackson, ex-Lucky]. Jonathan and I have really bonded through this whole [rape storyline]. I really depended on him to help me through it. I think he knew that I was scared to death to act this out, and he was right there with me, just as leery, but still being the man role model."— Soap Opera Weekly, 6/30/1998

"Ultimately, I would give up everything to have a family. I can't wait to be married and have children and be Martha Stewart. I love to bake, sew and create things. I can sit in front of Martha Stewart's show forever."— Soap Opera Weekly, 1/9/2001

"I am very motherly. For most people it can be annoying and overbearing, but Greg (Vaughan, Lucky) rolls with it, and it's great."— Soap Opera Weekly, 8/30/2005

"I know this sounds silly but [my family and I] love Disney World. So we love Super Soap Weekend. I always take the week after it off. That's our one family vacation, and it is the highlight of our year."— Soap Opera Weekly, 1/2/2007
