Beautifully printed certificate #144 from the Dolson Automobile Co. issued in 1907. This historic document has an ornate border around it with a vignette of a lady liberty. This item is hand signed by the Company's President, John L. Dolson and Secretary, D. Elmore Dolson and is over 98 years old. The certificate was issued to D. Elmore Dolson for 38 shares. First certificate from this company we have seen.

This Dolson carriage was one of many produced in the late 1800 at the John L. Dolson & Sons factory in Charlotte, MI. The Company was well known for its superior quality carriages and sleighs.


Early Company Ad Shown for Illustrative Purposes

From 1904 - 1907, the company built the Dolson Automobile. Dolsons were powered by several engines from 20hp to 60hp. The car was large by contemporary standards and the 1907 seven passenger touring model cost $3,250. It was advertised as the "Mile-a-Minute" car.

The clutch was of the special friction disc type, and there was a sliding gear transmission with three speeds forward and one reverse. The drive was direct on high speed. The equipment consisted of three oil lights, gas generator, tail light, horn and tools.
