Blockbuster Inc. - Specimen Stock Certificate

Beautifully engraved specimen certificate from Blockbuster Inc. dated in 9/27/99. This historic document was printed by the American Banknote Company and has an ornate block border with vignettes of the Blockbuster logo and an allegorical woman holding a torch in her hand. This item has the printed signatures of the company’s chairman and secretary. This is the only specimen certificate we have seen of this company.

Blockbuster Inc. is a publicly traded subsidiary of Viacom Inc. and is the world's leading renter of videos, DVDs, and video games with approximately 7,500 stores throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia.

On August 10, 1999 Blockbuster announced that its initial public offering of 31,000,000 shares of class A common stock has been priced at $15.00 per share. The offering represented approximately 17.7% of Blockbuster’s class A common stock. The Company had granted the underwriters an option to purchase up to an additional 4.65 million shares to cover over-allotments. Blockbuster used the net proceeds of the offering to repay outstanding indebtedness under its credit agreement.
