Hugh Armstrong Web Collection

** Important Update, August 18, 2007 **

Hugh Armstrong Web Collection A kind visitor to our website has directed us to the new location of the Hugh Armstrong website. Click the image to the left to be taken there.

Some time in early 2003, the AFHS web volunteers recognized that some of our links to the work of Hugh Armstrong were failing. If it had been just an isolated page or two - we would have sleuthed a bit for a new address for them, and simply deleted the links after a cursory search.

But, in the case of the work of Hugh Armstrong - we had many links to really interesting data collections: census, cemetery, military, etc.

So, we proceeded to hunt down Hugh's e-mail address but failed to find him 'at home' online; his website and e-mail appeared to be "down". Since Hugh had been the BC GenWeb Coordinator, we approached the Canada GenWeb Coordinators. They told us that Hugh's position was now filled by Marshall Price. Neither the Canadian nor the BC WebCoordinator knew Hugh personally or where his data pages were - but knew that the work had been valuable. Finally, Marshall Price unearthed copies of many of Hugh's files.

The AFHS is now extracting the information from those pages and dropping it into the AFHS "look 'n feel" - to make it easy for navigation to the data on our site. However, on all of the pages that are based on Hugh's data, we've acknowledged it with the Hugh Armstrong Web Collection banner. We recognize that Hugh has the copyright to the work that he did, but we have been unable to locate him to urge him to keep his work online. So, until he or his representative comes forward, we'll be keeping these files on the AFHS website. If anyone knows of Hugh's whereabouts, please contact .

Below is a list of the files that we hope to place online very soon.
