Events
You name it, we've got it. The AFHS has a large number of events
for members and visitors to attend every month of the year. You
have the choice of pursuing one of the following links to the event
pages themselves - or you can go directly to the online Calendar
and see what's happening this month.
- On the Emerald Isle Trail by Dr Trainor and Mr Mullan of the Irish Historical Society
- Family Roots 2004
- Mark your calendar for October 16. The 2004 event will be held
at the Carriage House Inn. Watch this space for links to more
information! This event was around for decades under the name
WildRose Seminar and featured two days of professional quality
speakers, booksellers, workshops, etc. Now, includes all the goodies
of our technical event, GenSoft, as well.
- General Programs - These are held
monthly Sept - June and feature a Beginner's Session early in
the evening, then a brief business meeting, and finally the Main
Meeting. Program details for the year are just a click away.
- SIGS - this stands for Special Interest
Groups. This has become such a vital offering of the AFHS that
they've morphed from being geographically-focussed and now include
software specific ones too. Follow the link to learn about Atlantic,
English, Italian, Mennonite, Metis, and Scottish SIGS. You'll
find the Computer SIG there along with the SIGlets for Family
Tree Maker, Generations/Reunion, Legacy, and The Master Genealogist.
- Notes for some of the talks
given at AFHS events are available online.
- October 19-25, 2003 - was proclaimed in Calgary as Family
History Week by Alderman Barry Erskine.
