Talaromyces

Ascomycetes characterized by loose hyphal fruiting bodies (gymnothecia) containing spherical asci, which in turn each enclose 8 ascospores. The ascospores are colourless to yellow, spherical to disc-shaped, and 1-celled. The whole fungus is either colourless or brightly coloured. In soil, dung, or decaying plant material.
