Vyara is the headquarters of a brand-new district called Tapi, which had been created in Gujarat two months before the Gujarat Assembly Elections. But now with the passing of the Forest Dwellers Act, tribals who have lived and worked on forest land – such as Tapi – may finally get the right to own it for the first time, despite the fact that it is the Centre that now holds the strings of Tapi.
