formed with HQ at Charing Cross, London, as a yeomanry regiment (named for King Edward VII) from overseas volunteers resident in England, with "colonial" squadrons:     
 
  • A Squadron (British Asian)
  • B Squadron (British American) [i.e. Canadian]
  • C Squadron (Australasian)
  • D Squadron (British African) [i.e. South African]
1902? New Zealand Squadron formed, and C Squadron redesignated "Australian"
1905 The King's Colonials, Imperial Yeomanry
1909 colony squadrons discontinued
19uu HQ moved to Duke of York's HQ, Chelsea
1910 King Edward's Horse (The King's Oversea Dominions Regiment)
1913 transferred to Special Reserve and lost yeomanry status
1924.03.21 disbanded

1939.09.27 4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters)
formed as duplicate of 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) from nucleus of latter, perpetuating title but not battle honours of 1901 regiment
1944.08.01 amalgamated with 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), to form
3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters)
