Raptortranny received an L&A designs one-way to help with testing the units durability, straight off we noticed the quality machining and the innovative design of this unit and had to install it right away. It is actually more like a bearing than yamaha's "sprag" unit and I am sure creates less drag during normal running. The unit seems impervious to any kind of failure as each "Roller" is double sprung individually.

After testing this unit for more than 6 months, it is still as rock solid as the day it was installed

Not only is this just a better unit, its also lighter, less rotating mass means quicker throttle response!

This design has nine individual rollers and springs, that means each contact point has it own contacting force. If one spring was to fail the system will still work and this clutch will still function with only three springs and rollers(but not recommended). This basic design has been in use for the last 30 plus years, so it’s proven and we have found no reason why it can work in this application. It was designed to be the last one you will have to install, that’s what I wanted for my bike and that how we designed it.
