IN OUR OPINION

From Mala Bhattacharjee
I'm not opposed to a rowdy Girls' Night Out or two. In fact, I have them with my own galpals. But this week's outing on GENERAL HOSPITAL has gotten me rowdy in the wrong way. MORE

Afternoon Delight

A small number of astute readers have noticed that every AS THE WORLD TURNS synopsis I write has a "theme" based around an actor or author or whatever I'm into in that particular week, reflected in the subheads and caption (and almost entirely for my own amusement). The one in the 9/11 issue was in recognition of my eager anticipation of the Foo Fighters' Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, which was released later that month, so the subheads were all songs from that CD including "Long Road To Ruin." VIDEO: GH stars greet fans in NJ

Steve Burton (Jason, GH) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli, GH) flew across the country last weekend to meet with more than 400 eager fans in New Jersey. Digest's Bryan Beckley was on hand to chat with the duo before their event. In addition, check out a short interview with Y&R; alum Scott Reeves (ex-Ryan, Y&R;) after he warms up the crowd with his friend and bandmate Andy Gurley. MORE

The Long & The Short Of It

When Weekly's most vertically opposite editors Robert Schork (6'7'') and Mala Bhattacharjee (5'1'') trade thoughts on their favorite storyline of the day, you're left with The Long & The Short Of It. When Robert is AFK and medium-sized Joe Diliberto steps in to lampoon the Dec. 5 Girls' Night Out continuation on GENERAL HOSPITAL, it's a different matter altogether! MORE

Going Brown

According to Sarah Brown's (ex-Carly, GH; ex-Julia, ATWT) official Web site, www.sarahbrown.net, the actress is returning to GH. More info to follow as it becomes available. MORE

My "Ancient Mayan" Day With Christian J. LeBlanc, YOUNG AND RESTLESS

Last month, Soap Opera Digest sent me to cover the first-ever Soap Cruise aboard a massive Carnival ship (I know, tough assignment). The four-day trip was just another Caribbean tour for most of the passengers, but nearly 300 soap fans paid extra moolah to participate in several on-board activities that would also be attended by 12 of their favorite daytime stars.

Wiseguys Extra! (Part One)

There wasn't a single moment of reparteé in our recent Q&A with AS THE WORLD TURNS's Michael Park (Jack) and GUIDING LIGHT's Ricky Paull Goldin (Gus) — in Digest's 12/11 issue — that didn't elicit uproarious laughter all around. Even their nonsensical tangents had us giggling, which is why there's so much left over, and we're sharing everything. (Well, everything that they won't shoot us for printing.)

Character Study

In the 12/11 Best & Worst issue of Soap Opera Digest, Erin Cardillo (Esme, PASSIONS) was named "Most Entertaining Character." But while Esme certainly keeps us amused with her brassy, boozy ways, she's hardly the first Harmonyite to tickle our funny bones. Here are those other PASSIONS characters who've made us smile.
