Three Row Tri-Color Edging Free Pattern

This edging appeared in a 1917 pattern book as the edging used for the Somerset Afghan. I've added to the antique pattern instructions and have created photos showing the progress of the rows, that may be helpful to refer to while crocheting this pattern.

The first two rows of the edging are based on the "crazy stitch" pattern. I had previously put together a how-to, with photos, for learning how to crochet the crazy stitch. Pattern Directions -
Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
ea = each
sc = single crochet
sp = space

Materials Used In The Example:
Worsted weight yarn with a size G hook: Colors A, B and C (choose your own combination of colors)
Approximate Finished Width (3 rows): 1 3/4 inches at widest point

Directions

If crocheting the edging as a separate piece, begin by making a starting chain of the length needed. If using as an afghan edging, crochet the first row of the edging directly into the afghan edges.

Row 1 With color A: Ch 1, sc in first stitch, ch 3, 3 dc in same stitch, skip 3 stitches; * sc in next stitch, ch 3, 3 dc in same stitch, skip 3 stitches **, repeat from * to ** as many times as needed.

Row 2 With color B: Ch 3, skip 3 dc, * sc in the ch-3 sp of previous row, ch 3, 3 dc in same ch-3 sp. Repeat from * to the end.

Row 3 With color C: Ch 3, dc in ea of next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, 3 dc in ch-3 sp of previous row, * dc in next sc, dc in ea of next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, 3 dc in ch-3 sp of previous row **, repeat from * to ** until you reach the end of the row or round.
