Weaver's Wool Mini Shawl

Material:

Materials: One skein Mountain Colors Weaver's Wool (350 yds. DK
weight)
Needles: US 10.5 (6.5 mm) circular 20" or longer

Gauge:

Gauge: 18 sts = 4" before blocking (not critical, but this is what gave me the finished size)

Finished measurements after blocking: 17" down center back. 48" across top.

PM = place marker

YO = yarn over (bring yarn to front between needles, take yarn to back over right needle)

Cast on 29 sts.

Row 1: Slip 1 (see Note 1), knit to end.

Row 2: Slip 1, knit to end.

Row 3: Slip 1, K2, PM, *YO, K5, YO, PM, K1, repeat from * two more times , YO,K5, YO, K3 (see Note 2)

Row 4: Slip 1, knit to end.

Row 5: Slip 1, K2, Slip Marker,YO, knit to last 3 sts, YO, K3

Row 6: Slip 1, knit to end.

Row 7: Slip 1, K2, Slip Marker,YO, *knit to marker, YO, slip marker, K1, YO, repeat from *two more times, knit to last 3 sts, YO, K3

Row 8: Slip 1, knit to end.

Repeat Rows 5 through 8 for pattern.

Optional: When you think you have about 5 or 6 rows worth of yarn left, you may do a row of (K2tog, YO)'s between the 3 st borders.

When you are almost out of yarn (but have enough for one more row), bind off loosely as follows:

Slip first stitch. *Insert right needle into back of st on left needle, insert left needle into front of st on right needle, K2tog. Repeat from *.

Block the shawl. It will enlarge the shawl and improve its appearance.

Note 1: First stitch of every row: with yarn in front, slip st purlwise, take yarn to back.

Note 2: I purposely did not put a marker at the end of the row, so that when I am starting a row that does not have a marker at the beginning, I
know that that row is simply knit across (no YO's).
