Since awarding its first international grant in 1986, amfAR has supported HIV/AIDS research, prevention, education, and training programs in dozens of countries across the developing world. Today, amfAR’s international grant making supports two important initiatives. Formed in 2001, TREAT Asia is a network of clinics, hospitals, and research centers working with civil society to ensure the safe and effective delivery of HIV/AIDS treatments across Asia and the Pacific. And through a newly established MSM Initiative, amfAR awards grants to grassroots groups in support of innovative HIV/AIDS services for men who have sex with men in resource-limited countries. |
