OPEC is planning to invest 150 billion dollars in more than 120 projects over a five-year period to increase its crude production.
The projects are predicted to boost the organization's current output by five million barrels per day, said the organization's president and UAE Oil Minister.
"Large and complex refineries are being planned or under construction, both domestically and abroad," Mohamed al-Hamli said at the Middle East and Asia Energy Summit in Singapore.
The 13-member organization is also working on joint downstream projects in several Asian countries.
OPEC member states, supplying 40 percent of the world's oil or 85 million barrels per day, are scheduled to meet in Abu Dhabi on December 5 to discuss their policy on raising output.
