Sharif ready to bury past with Bhutto
Wed, 28 Nov 2007 08:02:59
Former Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif says he is ready to 'bury the past' with Benazir Bhutto to form a united front against Musharraf.

Voicing his readiness to work with his arch rival Bhutto in the 'war against dictatorship', Sharif said he had concerns about the fairness of the general elections.

"We have to rise above personal interests. The country is in danger. I am ready to bury the past (with Bhutto). We have to work for national interest," Sharif said on a private TV channel from Lahore.

The two-time former premier, who returned home on Sunday after a seven-year exile, said it was a fact that President Pervez Musharraf tried to stop him from returning to Pakistan since his presence will put the General's plans in jeopardy.

Bhutto on Tuesday renewed her invitation to Sharif to discuss the political situation.

Addressing a late-night news conference in Karachi she said the situation in the country was delicate and she and Sharif must talk.
