Police look into US Capitol fires
Sat, 03 Nov 2007 06:39:21
The most recent fire was at the Dirksen building
An Investigation is underway into the suspicious fires which recently broke out in a succession at congressionally affiliated buildings.

The most recent was a small fire on Friday in a second-floor restroom in the Dirksen Senate office building. The fire which caused no harm is the 7th fire which mostly occur in women's bathrooms in the Dirksen and Hart buildings.

Capitol police are looking into the cause of the matter and the likelihood of a link between the fires. They have already tried beefing up security by recruiting more building patrols.

The buildings which accommodate senators' offices and hearing rooms adjoin the US Capitol.

"This would appear designed to be more of a nuisance than to endanger anyone," said Capitol Police Chief Phillip Morse.
