Iranian archeologists say the excavation of multilayer sites near the under construction Seimareh River dam is high on their agenda.
“Due to the high number of sites in the region, the Archeological Research Center has not yet set a timetable for salvage excavations at Seimareh dam,” said Seimareh research team director, Rasoul Seyedein Boroujeni.
He added that the team plans to ensure that the dam project, which began in the early 1970s, will not damage any of the region's many archaeological sites.

The double-arched Seimareh dam located 30 kilometers northwest of the city of Darehshahr in Ilam province has a concrete structure and a crest height of 180 meters.
