UNLV's Sam Boyd Stadium, is located in Henderson, NV, approximately seven miles from UNLV and the famous Las Vegas Strip. Sam Boyd Stadium celebrated its 36th birthday in 2007 and has hosted the UNLV Rebel football team since 1972. The stadium has a capacity of 40,000 seats.

In addition to UNLV football games, Sam Boyd Stadium hosts the Pioneer PureVision Las Vegas Bowl which features the No. 1 pick from the Mountain West Conference vs. the fourth- or fifth-place team from the Pac-10 Conference. The 2007 Bowl game will be December 22nd, though for the third straight year, the game has been sold out. The Stadium hosts high school games and has been site of the Nevada's state prep championship game. Sam Boyd is also the former home of the XFL team, the Las Vegas Outlaws. and CFL team, Las Vegas Posse.

Music Venue:
Sam Boyd Stadium is an excellent concert venue. Top acts appearing at the Stadium have included U2, the George Strait Festival, Wayne Newton and the Eagles.

History:
Sam Boyd Stadium, originally called the Las Vegas Stadium, was built in 1971 at a cost of $3.5 million. It was re-named the Las Vegas Silver Bowl in 1978 and then in 1984 was called the Sam Boyd Silver Bowl in honor of gaming pioneer Sam Boyd. Its name was officially shortened to Sam Boyd Stadium in 1994. The Stadium underwent an $18 million expansion which was completed in 1999.

From McCarran Airport:
Go north out of the airport on Swenson Avenue for approximately a half-mile.
Make right on to Tropicana Avenue (heading east) and go 4-5 miles.
Make right on to Boulder Highway then a left onto Russell Road.
Follow Russell Road up to Sam Boyd Stadium.

From I-15 South
Exit East on Tropicana Avenue
Take Tropicana past Boulder Highway
Sam Boyd Stadium will be on left.

From I-95 South
Exit on to Russell Road, head East and drive directly into Sam Boyd Stadium.
