50-Year Celebration
In 2007 UNLV celebrated its 50th anniversary. Opening in 1957 as the southern regional division of the University of Nevada with a total of 28 students, UNLV is now home to more than 28 ,000 students on a 350-acre campus. UNLV graduated a class of more than 4,000 in 2006. The University offers over 220 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degree programs and is a leading research institution. Programs and funded projects include those in desert biology, nuclear waste transportation, and laser physics. UNLV also has strong business and restaurant management programs. UNLV is a member of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, the Council of Graduate Schools, the American Council of Education and the Western College Association.

Academic Calendar:
The academic year is broken into the Fall and Spring semesters, approximately 16 weeks each. Three summer sessions are held from May through August.
UNLV's school colors are scarlet and silver and the mascot is the Rebels.

Financial Aid and Tuition:
Priority deadlines are February 1 for scholarships and other forms of aid (loans, grants, work study,etc.). In Fall 2007, Nevada resident fees for undergraduate courses was $116.75 per credit and graduate courses was $172.25 per credit. For non-resident and other fees see UNLV Bursar's Office page.

UNLV Housing
The best way to dive in and get connected is to live on campus. Not only will you make new friends quickly, you'll get to sleep in instead of spending time commuting in! UNLV provides on-campus housing for more than 2,000 students.

Off-Campus Living
If dorm life isn't for you, venture into the wild world of Las Vegas rentals. Average one-bedroom rent in Las Vegas is $850. Note that with Vegas's quickly expanding population, rent prices can change quickly and prices vary from neighborhood to neighborhood. Traffic in Las Vegas borders on insane, so finding a place closer to campus is ideal.

Social Life and Rebel Pride
Student Clubs are the perfect way to take a break from studying, make new friends and enhance your experience at UNLV. Whatever your interest from rugby to German to anthropology, you can find a group for you. To get started, check the UNLV Student Group Web site.

If you want to get involved in UNLV events like Homecoming and other fun Rebel traditions, join the Rebel Pride Council. It's a great way to make friends and generate school spirit.

UNLV Greek Life

Arts and Culture
UNLV is home to a world-class Performing Arts Center, where the Las Vegas Philharmonic, the Nevada Ballet Theatre, and the Nevada Conservatory Theatre perform. The Performing Arts Center offers UNLV students and southern Nevada residents outstanding concerts and cultural opportunities.

The Donna Beam Fine Arts Gallery features local and nationally recognized contemporary artists as well as exhibitions by UNLV faculty and students.

Sports and Intramurals Links
UNLV has excellent athletic facilities, many open for students as well as public use. UNLV offers exciting Division I action and has 17 intercollegiate teams for you to cheer for throughout the year.
