Patricia Shaffer's Angelic Letter Essences

The following was taken from Ms. Shaffer's postings to the enochian-l e-list.  I have chosen to edit considerably from the "conversational" style of the list postings, for purposes of brevity and also to avoid questions of permission from persons quoted.  This way I can present the heart of the matter -- Ms. Shaffer's Letter Essences, her dictionary entries, and her analysis of the Tenth Call, which was singled out in part because of Dr. Dee's "confusion" while recording the Englished Sense of the Call.

Note that herein "Casaubon" or "TFR" are references to "A True and Faithfull Relation" by Casaubon, considered the definitive resourse on Enochian Magick outside of Dr. Dee's own diaries.

The Letter Essences -- An introduction

The Angelic Calls are a literal treasure trove of information, and the Englished Sense is the least of it. Once the essences are understood, each word becomes a sentence, letter by letter. OL = Being-Becoming the First, or, loosely translated in the 1st person voice, "I was/am/will be First".

The next layer of meaning is in the diads and triads: significant triads (which begin and end with the same letter), like ROR, [the first Divine utterance: not "Let there be light", but rather "Move, become different, changing"], seem to me to reflect the motives and aspects of Divinity.

ODO, another significant triad, reflects the Infinite Possibilities of Spirit central and giving rise to all Being-Becoming; it translates as Divinity ordering, "Become all the Infinite Possibilites of Being". More loosely translated, it reads, "and there became all that was possible to be"; or, in the vernacular "and so it came to be".

One further note: I believe the Calls were given as a kind of primer for the Angelic Language; I believe they were correct as dictated, and that they were meant to teach us how to take our proper position in the Grand Cosmic Scheme, whatever that may mean to us as individuals.

I do not believe that any two people will understand the Calls in exactly the same ways: the Angelic Language is flexible, and our own understanding depends so much on our personal perceptions. I think the challenge will be for each of us to apply the essences and to learn the meaning of the Angelic words for ourselves

These are the essences which I have attributed to the individual letters. As I understand it, each letter represents a sound which is universal to the mind of man, and so, the essential meaning echoes within every spoken language. The shapes of the letters or glyphs may vary, but the sound is what imparts the meaning. Each of the individual letters reflects a pure sound, but certain combinations (e.g., ch, sh, ph) give mixed sounds, and thus, the meanings of such diads are subtly enhanced. More on that another time.

My feeling, from the beginning of my work, has been that if there are higher beings who want to communicate with us, then their communications would be simple and basic. If you really wish your message to be understood, you must communicate it in terms your listeners can understand.

Since the Angelic Calls were dictated to Englishmen, using English letters, and since there were pronunciation glosses by Dee for questionable words, it is my belief that the general pronunciation should be as in English. Certain Angelic words are difficult to pronounce, unless one finds the clues elsewhere in the Casaubon text: for example, eF, uR, eL. I do not believe the extended "zod" is mandated for any "z" except where the meaning of the word implies the superlative, as in MOZ, Englished as "the joy of God".

In the Angelic language, a letter may represent a verb, a noun or a modifier. A verb may be any voice or tense required by the text, which is one of the things that is so powerful about the language of the Angelic Calls. History, present time, and the future may all be read with ease.

Below I have listed the letters in the order in which they first appear in the Angelic Calls.  You will notice that there are 23 letters: I differentiate between I & Y, and U & V; for the present, please trust that I have good reason to do so; I will explain why in another posting. Some of the "meanings" may not be clear at first glance, but upon reflection, should clarify.

O Root of Being-Becoming: being, becoming; existence
L Root of Primacy: first, primary, one; providence
S Root of Possession: have, acquire, gather; together
N Root of Interiority: within, inside, self-hood
F Root of Manifestation: manifest, show, appear
V Root of Darkness: dark, hidden (therefore, unknown); reflection
R Root of Movement: move, motion, emotion, motivate, change
G Root of Negation: not, none, nothing, nor
H Root of Breath: breath, life
I Root of Energy/Enablement: energize, enable, ability
A Root of Time: begin, beginning; new, anew; again, then, when
D Root of Possibility: possible, potential
B Root of Choice: duality, multiplicity, choose (between)
T Root of Balance: balance, justice, adjust, judge, equilibriate
C Root of Causation: make, cause, create, because (of)
Z Root of Division: divide, separate, other (than), part(s) of
P Root of Establishment: space, place, put, set; here, there, where
M Root of Knowledge: mind, know, awareness, knowledge
Q Root of Desire: desire, love
E Root of Will: will, intend, purpose, intention
U Root of Light: light, enlightenment
X Root of Limitation/Decrease: limit, lessen, lower, slower
Y Root of Increase: grow, increase, more, faster

In closing for tonight, AMMA, Englished as "cursed", essentially translates as, "The beginning of knowledge is knowing when to begin." May this beginning turn out to be a blessing for all.

The diads are building blocks: straight application of essences will do the job of translating their facets. When two diads share a letter, they can be contracted into a triad, which seems to be the root word in the Angelic Language.

Intuition gave me clues, but I took the essential meanings and implications of the triads back to the Englished senses and tried to figure out whether the Englished sense "matched" or not, or whether the word was mismatched.

5-letter words can be looked at as two triads sharing the middle letter. In translating, I go first by letter essences, then diads, then triads. The larger the "word" the more meaning it holds. Thus, something like IADOISMOMAR can be translated by running through the shared triads (iad)(ado)(doi)(ois)(smo)(mom)(oma)(mar). The layered meanings should become apparent.

It seems a lengthy process, but after working on it for awhile, the stuff just bursts with clarity upon the mind. Then you begin to see the Angelic in everything <g>, which is a real mind-bender!

A syllabus of diads is simple to put together, especially with a word processor. I use the glossary/auto-text feature in MSWord for the diads, then as I understand the triads, I add them, so that all I need to do is type the diad or triad, hit F3 and the thing gets inserted in my document (can't do it with browser, so I cut and paste for the List.)

It shouldn't be a matter of how _I_ interpret them ... everyone should be able to interpret them similarly: my premise, you know, was that the Language was simple to learn.<g> All translations are valid ... and when you hit on the intended meaning of a Call Word ... you will know it.

As I understand it, simplicity is the key to the Angelic Language. The individual concepts are like facets of a gem ... each letter can be expressed as a noun, a verb, or a modifier. (The verb form includes the infinitive and all tenses.) The specific function of a letter is determined by the surrounding letters in a word. I do not believe there is any way an Angelic word can be misinterpreted; I believe that all essential (i.e., letter by letter by the Essences) translations are valid, and that they expose sequential statements of truth, which, when considered together, display the whole true meaning of the word.

A single letter, standing alone expresses its concept purely, such as O = Come, I = "is", is energized or enabled to be (1.13, 10.77 [by my numeration]).

The two letter constructs, diads, are like building blocks. CA = "therefore", it was caused to begin, "therefore" ...; TA = "as", just as (it was then).

The three letter constructs are words made up of a single letter and a diad, or of a contraction of two diads sharing a letter between them. ITA = "is" "just as"; also (it) + (ta)= enabled to be balanced just as it was in the beginning. TAN = (ta): to judge or adjust anew + (an): to begin within the self; to refresh or renew the Self within. This implies that on the 17th Aire, the individual Self goes through some kind of assessment and is renewed or refreshed for whatever it is going to do next.

Triads are the forms which come closest to the Englished sense, but I have not yet finished the Dictionary work, and that is how I am learning to match the Englished senses with the Angelic words. It is time consuming, and I am as bound by the clock as everyone else is <g>. The Language will teach itself, if you let it do so.

First, consider the Capitalized words as starting a new sentence (I admit I tucked the first and second words together!) Then, start with the individual letter essences and work up to the diads.

Oh: O = being-becoming (thus, Come)+ H = breath, living; -> Oh = Come thou here (being-becoming represents the here and now), through my breath (words).

Gahire: G = negation, + A = begin -> Ga = unbegun, spirit + H -> GAH (6.1 Englished as "the Spirits"); (ah) = beginning of breath, inspiration; I = energize, enable, + R = move, motivate -> (ir) = enable to move, to energize motives; + E = will, intention, or purpose; ->(ire) = energy which motivates purpose.

Rudna: U = light, enlightenment, thus (ru) = move to enlighten; D = possibility, specifically, the infinite possibilities of the Holy Spirit, the Third member of the Godhead, part of which is at the core of all living things, the spirit which enlivens the soul. N = within, self-within, > (na) = within from the beginning, thus innate; -> DNA = the infinite possibilities of the Holy Spirit within. [Yeah, isn't that a kick in the pants! The Divine does have a sense of humor ...]

gephna: (ge) = not-willed, unwillingly, without purpose, + (ph) = to speak; to establish [i.e., in manifestation: the (ph) is sounded as "f"] by breath, utterance, word, + (na) = within the self from the beginning, innate, inborn, or inherent within the self.

The translation I have tucked in my dictionary (still in progress) is slightly different, but expresses the essences more linearly.

"Come forth through my breath. Let your Spirit inspire me to energize and motivate them for thy purpose. Move and enlighten them by the Holy Spirit within, for not my will ['but thine' is implied] to be established by the words from within me."

As for cognates ... these particular words were not included in the Calls, and GAH is the only cognate that comes to mind; but the diads function similarly all the way through the Calls, once you are willing to accept that there is more to them than is shown by the Englished sense. The Angelic Language is utterly simple ... very like childrens' blocks, with which to build whatever is in your mind.

[Ms. Shaffer was asked about the middle triad of 5-letter words]

That's another level of meaning to be added: the middle triad can be viewed as the root and the first and last letters apply as modifier or result. Take GOHOL ... G + OHO + L: You have negation applying to the significant triad (oho), the root of Breath implying speech, not uttered but silent, and the result is union. The word is Englished as "saying", but it implies a silent communion.

[Ms. Shaffer was then asked about similar patterns in longer words]

Sure ... once you've a grasp on the basic diadic construction of the triads, and begin to get the feel for the meanings of the triads, then the three, four and five letter constructs are easily translated in larger words. PIRIPSOL, for instance ... the Palindrome PIRIP + SOL. Motion at the center of the palindrome, giving forth waves of energy to establish something in time and space ... and what is established? SOL = for the gathering (shared) by beings as providence (or as one). PIRIPSOL is Englished as "in the brightness of the heavens" ... "in the brightness" is clearly referred to by PIRIP, and SOL is the ancient name of the sun, which shines on everyone alike.

Letter Essences applied to individual words

CHRISTEOS (30.47, 30.68, 30.79) "let there be" [command]; (make/breath/move/enable/have/ balance/will/become/have]: cf. ch, hr, CHR, (ri), I, (is), s, (st), (ist) t, (te), (eo), (os), (eos).

>> Dee's pronunciation notes: "Chris te os." [Accent on "te"]

>> ch = to make or cause by breath or utterance, to command or ordain, + (hr) = by breath, sound, utterance, to move, motivate, or change, + (ri) = to move, change or be motivated by energy; to be emotionally energized or enabled; changeability, variety, + I = Energy: the energy or ability; all that "is"; all that could or can be; all able; to enable, ability, + s = the fourth, + (is) = to enable those who gather, to energize by gathering, + t = "also" to be just, + (st) = to have balance, + (te) = equal will, + (eo) = to willfully or intentionally become, for the purpose of becoming, + os = ("12") to come to be, or to evolve together.

>> Thus: Let there be these words to motivate the abilities of those who are evenly balanced in their purpose of evolving together.

>> Note: the obvious Christian interpretation would be to relate this to Christ and the twelve apostles, whose words have certainly changed the course of the life of the world over the past two-thousand years.

CORAXO (10.1) "the Thunders of Judgement and Wrath"; (11.6) "thunders"; [make/become/move/begin/decrease/become]: to cause there to become numerous changes during a time of limitations, or for a time that is limited. Cf. (cor), (rax), (axo); AVAVAGO, AUAUAGO, CONST; BALZIZRAS; VONPH.

>> Dee's pronunciation notes: "Co rax o." [Accent on "rax"]

>> co = to make or cause to become, + or = to become moving, different, ->(cor) to make become different, to differentiate between, to number or count, + (ra) = dawn, renewal, a new beginning, + (ax) = to begin limitations, a time of limitation, for a time that is limited, -> (rax) = movement to begin limitations; changes for a time that is limited; to a time of limitation; + (xo) = to limit becoming, perhaps, to slowly evolve; limitations to come, -> (axo) = a time of limitation to come.

>> Note the phonetic similarity between "thunders" and "numbers": it may be that Kelly mis-heard this word: it might have been "the numbers of judgement and wrath". In any case, limitation and decrease could be punitive, in the sense of restrictions for wrongdoing, or it could simply indicate a gradual pace for evolution.

CORMP (4.9; 10.3) "[are] numbered": are counted; [make/become/move/know/establish]: cf. (cor), M, (rmp), P; CORMF, CORMPO, CORMPT.

>> Dee's notes: "Cormp." [Possibly as cor-emp.]

>> (cor)=to make become different, to differentiate between, to number or count, + (rmp) = difference or changes in knowledge established about the place -> CORMP = to make a count (an account?) of changes known about the place

IADNAH (1.46) "of knowledge"; [enable/begin/possible/within/begin/breathe]: the energized or enabling aspect (the Holy Spirit) of infinite possibilities innate within the aspirant. Cf. IAD, ADNA, Nah-gassapalan

>> Dee's pronunciation notes: "yadnah"

>> I = (who) "is", + ia = energy is the beginning, the enabler of beginnings; able to begin, can begin, + (ad) = the aspect or face of beginning possibility; the aspect that began all possibility, the aspect or facets of possibilities, + d = "the third", the Holy Spirit, => IAD = "the God", the Beginning of All Possibility, the face or aspect which began all possibilities, + (dn) = all of the possibilities within self-hood, + (na) = self-begun, within the self from the beginning, self-renewing, to be born, re-born; innate, inborn, or inherent within the self, => (dna) = the infinite possibilities for selfhood that are innate, + ADNA = "obedience", the aspect innately within (implying that obedience to God is innate) + (ah) = to begin to breathe, to inhale, inhalation, inspiration, to inspire, to aspire, => Nah = that which is Self-begun, inborn or innate aspiration; that within self which is born of inspiration; that which is within that inspires breath, or words; that within!! self which aspires of inspires.

IADNAMAD (30.157) "of undefiled knowledge"; [enable/begin/possible/within/begin/know/begin/ possible]; the energized aspect of the infinite possibilities innate within the mind or mental aspect of God. Cf. IAD, (dna), ADNA, MAD; IADNAH.

IADNAH = IAD "the God" + Nah = Self-begun life, thus the Self-begotten living God; note too, that the construct contains ADNA "obedience", preceded by I = energy, ability, and followed by H, breath, life. IADNAH therefore should have been Englished as "to whom you sware obedience".

The two "iadna" words, IADNAH and IADNAMAD are both built upon ADNA = "obedience"; which is constructed from the two triads, (adn) = the face or aspect of the Holy Spirit, + (dna) = the possibilities innate within.

Nah is another Angelic word; from my dictionary (in progress):

Nah gassapalan (Casaubon, p. 52): the second part of the two-fold Spirit of God, "Almighty, and everlasting, unmeasurable, and inexplicable: drowning the will of man, that becometh strong in the fountain of gladnesse and understanding: true wisdom herself, and not returning", i.e., that which is inherently within the soul of man. Also see in Casaubon, p. 361: This second part is that which is perhaps the effect of the Divine Spark that is the core of each soul, "inspired from God himself, in his holy Spirit, immediately comforting and knitting Wisdom together with you, beyond the power that is given unto his Angels." The energy that began breath, life, to breathe, to live.

Iah agian: (as Jah agian: Casaubon, p. 52): the first part of the two-fold Spirit of God, which is a "power present, and as a comfort immeasurable, glorifying and strengthening all things that are agreeable to it: But when they differ, it returneth", i.e., to God. This first part is brought to man through the ministry of the holy Angels who bring information and guidance (see Casaubon, p. 361).

The triad (nam) = innate or inherent within the mind, innate knowledge, perhaps instinctive or intuitive + (MAD)= the mind of God, the mental aspect of the Holy Spirit. IADNAMAD implies obedience to the God of pure knowledge. Its Englished sense is rendered as a plea to make us partakers of undefiled knowledge, and implies that we are obedient, so they must assist us in their obedience to God's plan.

LUCIFTIAN (7.19) "with ornaments so bright"; [provide/enlighten/make/enable/manifest/balance/ enable/begin/within]: cf. L, lu, uc, ci, I, if, f, ft, t, TI, ia, TIA, an, (ian); LUCAL; TIANTA.

>> Dee's pronunciation notes: "Lu cif ti an." [Accent is on "ti"]

>> L = "of the first", "one", the only, Unity, Providence, + lu = to provide light or enlightenment, + uc = to enlighten the cause, the light of or for creation, + ci = to make or cause by energy or ability; to make or cause to be energized or enabled; because of the energy or ability, + I = Energy: the energy or ability; all that "is"; all that could or can be; all able; to enable, ability, + if = energy in manifestation; all that is or all that could or can be manifested; to be able to manifested or shown; to enable by showing; the ability to manifest or appear, + ft = manifest balance, stability, + t = "also" to be just, + TI = "it is", + ia = energy is the beginning, the enabler of beginnings; able to begin, can begin, + an = to begin within the self, feelings, => (ian) = the ability to feel within, to perceive feelings within.

>> In Latin \lux, lucis\ = light + \fero, ferre\ = to carry or bear, to bring. Lucifer = "the light carrier". See note at LEVITHMONG. Lucifer is said to have been a fallen rebel archangel, and is sometimes called the day-star, the morning star, or son of the dawn (see Isaiah 14:12-14); this astrologically links him with the planet Venus when it rises just before the sun in the morning.

LUCIFTIAS (30.20) "the brightness"; [provide/enlighten/make/enable/manifest/balance/enable/ begin/have]: cf. L, lu, uc, ci, I, if, f, ft, t, TI, ia, TIA, as, s; LUCIFTIAN.

>> Dee's pronunciation notes: "Lu cif ti as." [Accent is on "cif"]

>> L = "of the first", "one", the only, Unity, Providence, + lu = to provide light or enlightenment, + uc = to enlighten the cause, the light of creation, + ci = to make or cause by energy or ability; to make or cause to be energized or enabled; because of the energy or ability, + I = Energy: the energy or ability; all that "is"; all that could or can be; all able; to enable, ability, + if = energy in manifestation; all that is or all that could or can be manifested; to be able to manifested or shown; to enable by showing; the ability to manifest or appear, + ft = manifest balance, stability, + t = "also" to be just, + TI = "it is", + ia = energy is the beginning, the enabler of beginnings; able to begin, can begin, + as = to be gathered, + s = the fourth.

MAD (1.84; 3.60; 6.41; 11.46; 12.34; 13.16, 13.34; 14.35; 15.29; 16.33; 17.30; 18.38; 30.15): RFP; "of the same your God", "of your God"; [know/begin/possible]: of the only aspect of God it is possible for you to know? Cf. M, ma, d, ad; IAD, GEIAD, OIAD, PIAD, SOBAIAD; Madimi, MADRID, MADRIAAX, MADZILODARP, VMADEA.

>> Dee's pronunciation notes: "Mad."

>> M = "except", "but", + ma = the mind, to know again, + + d = "the third", the Holy Spirit, + ad = the aspect or face of beginning possibility; the aspect that began all possibility, the aspect or facets of possibilities, thus, perhaps => MAD = the Mind or Memory of the (3rd) aspect that began or conceived all of the possibilities for existence.

>> Note: There seems to be a mild semantic conflict in the Englished sense for MAD and IAD. Also, in the fact that in Angelic Calls, MAD alone was Englished as "of your God", and yet when found inserted into other words apparently represents other meanings: on close study, it becomes clear that the constructs reflect their given Englished senses almost as a kind of poetic license.

>> ** NOTE: One can learn to stretch one's own mind by choosing to change one's point of view in order to study the various possibilities: one may choose to think of the surface of the time/space framework as being irregularly curved or folded, or as being smooth and spherical, or as being flat and evenly linear. One may choose to think of the Universe as being open or closed, infinitely expanding or limited or perhaps as alternating cycles of expansion and contraction. One may choose to experiment to discover how close one can come to willfully and consciously experiencing the Eternal Now. One can try to visualize as many dimensions of existence as one can conceive of as possible without going completely insane ... MAD ... (q.v.)!

OB (12.6) "28", to become by choice. I have a hunch that the Englished sense represents a lunar month; and that it implies gestation, which in humans is 280 days: 10 lunar months of 28 days is the average time from conception to birth; + (ra) [move/begin]: to move to begin; to move at the beginning; to motivate again or anew, to refresh or renew; to dawn or to awaken, as of a new day; to be reborn; => (bra) = choice motivated by awakening, to prepare for, to prepare to begin anew, choice motivated by awakening, the choice that awakens or renews; + (ao) [begin/become]: to begin to become; the beginning of existence or being; new beings.

Thus AR ROGOGOR OBRAO translates as that which motivates one to undergo the cycle of reincarnation, which prepares one for rebirth as a new being. Since this Angel is in the South, Earth, it is clear that it has something to do with preparing spirits for rebirth into the earth plane.

OM = to come to know or be known, knowledge; (mo) = to know being or becoming, thus perhaps, awareness; (oma) = to come to know again or anew, to come to remember, memory, to understand. (am) = to begin to know, possibly implying learning; (ma) = to know again, to recall or remember. (im) = to energize or enable the mind, to enable to know; (mi) = to know the ability, to know how, to know the energy, mind energy (eg., thought or mind power). EM = "Nine": the will to know, the purpose of knowledge, the intention of the mind; (me) = to know the will of, to understand the purpose of, the mind that is willing, thus implying deliberate; (mu) = to know the light, possibly wisdom; um = to enlighten the mind, the enlightened mind, the light of knowledge.

TELOCVOVIM (30.115) "of him that is fallen": literally, the death-dragon or the dragon of death; possibly, the dead dragon; essentially, it reads [balance/will/provide/become/make/darken/become/darken/enable/know]: cf. EL ("the First"), TELOAH ("death"), TELOCH ("of death"), VOUINA ("the Dragon"), ABAIUONIN ("to the stooping dragon"), VOHIM ("mighty earthquakes")

> Dee's pronunciation notes: "Te loc vo v im." "lotch; or loch." [Accent is on "loc"]

This is how it breaks down on the essential level; all translations are valid and add definition to the term:

t = "also", to be just, to judge, to adjust + te = to balance will; to judge or adjust the purpose, + El = "the first", -> (tel) = as balanced or just as the will and purpose of Providence; as judgement by the Will of the First, + L = "of the first", "one", the only, Unity, to unite with or unify, Providence, the One, "of the first", + lo = to provide for all beings-becoming, to unite with Being -> (elo) = the will or purpose of Providence for whatever comes to be; to unite willfully with all Being, to unite for the purpose of Being-Becoming; + oc = to occur, to become because, + cv = to cause to be hidden or concealed, + vo = in darkness to become, + ov = to exist in concealment, -> (vov) = darkness or mystery surrounds the process of becoming; all Being/Becoming is in the depths of darkness or concealment, + I = Energy: the energy or ability; all that "is"; all that could or can be; all able; to enable; + vi = in darkness enabled; reflection on mystery energizes or enables, + m = mind, to know, knowledge; im = the energy or ability of the mind, to be able to know, to enable the knowledge.

Thus perhaps, Death is an adjustment at the Will (or for the Purpose) of the First, as Provision for whatever Comes next to be, Because the Dragon is the Mystery that surrounds the process of Being-Becoming is to energize or enable the mind.

In other words, the Dragon of Death represents our fear of the unknown which is only unknowable because of the mental darkness which surrounds us in life. VOVIM becomes, upon reflection, UONIN, the enlightenment by the being-becoming, the source of energy within each self.

TRINC:  t = "also", to be just, + tr = balance or stabilize in motion, + I = Energy: the energy or ability; all that "is"; all that could or can be; all able; to enable, ability, + ri = to be motivated by ability, to be emotionally enabled, changeability, variety, => (tri) = adjustment of moving energy, to balance emotional energy; to stabilize mobility; + (in) = energy or ability within; to energize or enable within the self; something that is innate within the self; + (nc) = internally caused or created, self-caused; => (inc) = energy or ability that is innate within the self as cause. Therefore, by the Angelic letter essences, TRINC would translate as: Balance the emotional energy innate within you to create. Rather a good word ... Crowley was right on target.

Work involving the Calls and Liber Loagaeth

   Loagaeth

Liber Logaeth (The Book of the Speech of God)is the proper name of the Book which included the 48 Tables from which the letters of the words in the Angelic Calls were derived. See Casaubon pp. 19-20: the first page of the Book was to be inscribed with what I call the Logaeth

Sequence: the first word, the title, is given as "Logaeth", which is later given as "Loagaeth", and followed by 21 more words. The Angel Galvah delivered the words to Dee and Kelly, saying:

"There are onely the words of the first leaf ... In them is the Divinity of the Trinity. The Mysterie of our Creation. The age of many years. And the conclusion of the World. Of me they are honoured, but of me, not to be uttered: Neither did I disclose them my self: For, they are the beams of my understanding, and the Fountain from whence I water."

When translated, the Logaeth Sequence should be read first-person singular, as literally Speech from God. Roughly, the title and first sentence reads thus:

Logaeth

Providence For Beings-Becoming From The Unbegun Spirit

For The Purpose Of Judging (or Justifying) Life

seg: "The Fourth having willfully negated their purpose,"

lovi: "I provided for there to become a hiding of their abilities"

brtnc: "so their choices activate the judgement they themselves cause."

   First Call

To be honest, I have done only preliminary work on the Calls themselves. When I was clarifying the letter essences, I did a letter by letter translation of each "word", using the essential concepts in the infinitive form. That was intriguing in and of itself, and it showed the first hints regarding the multiple levels of interpretation.

An example:

OL to be-being-becoming to provide

SONF to possess to become to enter to manifest

VORSG to hide to become to move to have to be not

GOHO to negate to become to breathe to become

IAD to enable to begin to be possible

BALT to choose to begin to provide to balance

Then I worked with nouns:

OL being providence

SONF possession of being within manifestation

VORSG darkness being motion possession negation

GOHO negation being breath becoming

IAD ability begin possibility

BALT choice beginning provision balance

Then I tried using a first person narrative:

OL I am One (Providence)

SONF I gathered being within me to manifest

VORSG Darkness hid my becoming so I moved to have it not

GOHO I negated its existence as breath came to be

IAD I enabled the beginning of possibilities

BALT I chose to begin first to balance

The further along I went, the more the progression reminded me of Genesis 1, and the spookier it felt ... I did a rough essential translation of the Calls, knowing that it would take a lot more study to get the levels of translation clearer.

The Dictionary in progress is teaching me the triads ... two diads contracting to build a bigger concept:

(or) + (rs) = ORS (30.102) "with darkness"; (ors) is found in VORSG. (ors) = being moved or motivated to possess or acquire, thus can imply greed. It also reads: to become changed by what is possessed; the darkness of the fourth. They are all connected, you see, level by level.

(or) + (ro) = ORO, a significant triad reflecting movement central to being-becoming, like a pulsation of being: and, of course, it is part of one of the three-fold Holy Names of God. Significant triads, at their highest levels, refer to Divinity.

> I'd also like to know your POV on pronounciation of the Angelic language.

There is so much work to be done ... part of what I am doing in the Dictionary is to note Dee's punctuation notes. My impression is that the Angelic Language is sounded much like English ... my initial premise on pronunciation was "one letter, one sound", but that was not borne out by Dee's notes. Pronunciation is simpler than GD and Crowley had it. When you say a word correctly, you will know it ... it's effects will depend upon your motive in saying it: when I was saying words to get the feel of them and trying to grasp the concepts within the sounds ... more than once I "woke up" an hour later with more images and details than I could get written out. I would suggest starting out with small words ... ROR is truly powerful. Just try saying "uROR", softly ... when it feels right, then vibrate it.

Preface to the Tenth Angelic Key

The Tenth Angelic Key text was dictated along with the bulk of the 5th through 18th Keys, with various corrections and additions made both within the dictation of the Key itself and later, along with the dictation of the Englished sense.

It should be noted that the Englished sense as it was dictated does not fit properly to the Angelic text of the Key: there seems to have been a misplacement of the blocks of Englished text. When these blocks are rearranged, by aligning with the words from previous Keys, the texts are matched fairly easily, although there are several words which seem to have no correlative Englished sense.

It was one of my basic premises that the Angelic text was dictated correctly, and that the Englished sense must therefore be fitted to the Angelic words. For the purposes of clarity, I have included in Appendix -B- my approximation of the blocks of the Englished sense text.

Dee's marginal notes show that he felt some distress over the meanings of the un-Englished material, and James has noted in his volume that several later scholars have offered their own "educated guesses" as to the meanings, so I feel justified here in offering my own, along with my rationale for each.
