Tiny, but Tough
A sleek design and a sharp display combine to make the TomTom ONE a vital companion on the road. THe ONE, 3rd edition comes pre-loaded with complete maps for the United States and Canada.

Weighing less than 10 ounces and measuring 4.33 x 3.5 x 1.34 inches, the TomTom ONE can be easily installed in any vehicle. An included windshield suction mount holds it in place. Plus, with an operating temperature range of an icy -10 degrees to a sweltering 55 degrees Celsius (14 to 131 degrees Fahrenheit), the navigator is durable enough for New England winters or Arizona summers. The TomTom ONE is powered by an internal lithium ion battery that can be charged from your vehicle's cigarette lighter with the included 12-24V adapter.

Easy To Use
The user-friendly design also puts it a step above other navigation systems. The crystal-clear multicolor display makes for exceptionally easy viewing of maps, routes, driving directions, and other traveling information, such as mileage and distance. Measuring 3.5 inches, the TFT display offers a resolution of 320 x 240 to provide brilliant two- and three-dimensional graphics. The device also features 32 MB RAM and 380 MHz CPU, making it responsive and zippy. Using the USB port and the provided cable, you can use your PC to add your own points of interest.

With its touch-sensitive screen, the TomTom ONE puts programming and operation literally at your fingertips to make sophisticated technology simple. The built-in database offers millions of points of interest for you to use as destinations or reference points as you plan your trip. ONE will also provide a selection of available routes, giving you the option of avoiding toll roads or choosing between the quickest or the most scenic routes. ONE provides clear and accurate turn-by-turn voice instructions, so that you don't have to take your eyes off the road while your vehicle is on the move. One nifty feature is speed-sensitive volume. The menus sometimes are not as user-friendly - for example, after making a selection, it typically kicks you out of settings instead of going up to a previous level (us, windows users expect to see the previous menu after making a selection and clicking ok). I think this is done so speed up changing menu items (for example when you need to mute audio quickly). I got a few celebrity voices on the thing - and while they seems cool at the beginning, I quickly realized that a) the impersonations are pretty poor and b) overall quality of directions seems to be worse - i.e. voice clarity, volume, etc. Maybe if you have kids, you can have them entertained with Homer Simpson giving you directions if you don't have a DVD player in your car... The Tom Tom HOME software is very useful - easy to load updates, and the new version even allows "using" the unit while it's plugged into the PC - so you can set preferences and even pre-plan your trips without having to use the touch-screen keyboard.   10 of 15 people found the following review helpful: So where is the documentation??, September 13, 2007 By  Lee S. The advent of the 3rd edition at only $50 more than the current edition tipped me over the edge. While the unit operates like a piece of cake, with excellent maps and a GPS processing algorithm that puts me right in the middle of the road back here in the mountains of West Virginia, the documentation was/is pitiful. Nothing was provided with the unit, so I downloaded a copy from www.TOMTOM.COM. What I received did not match the unit I had. You would think that the latest edition (3rd in my case) would be available on the website, but not in this case. The pdf file downloaded doesn't match my unit's instructions. For example, there is supposed to be an Itinerary Feature whereby you can plan and store your trips in advance according to the documentation. Unfortunately, the appropriate screens are not on the TomTom One 3rd edition unit where the documentation said they were. Telephone support is a joke. I finally gave up after being in the phone queue for over 45 minutes. One good thing.
