Arranging Auctions Returns & Refunds

When you buy an item from our Auctions sellers, you can expect to receive the same high standard of customer service you would expect from Amazon.com.

Returns

If you receive an item different than what was described, or that is clearly in worse condition than indicated, please contact your seller directly via e-mail. You should be able to reach an amicable agreement with one another.

If necessary, you can return your item to the seller for a refund. Please note that items purchased from Amazon Auctions sellers need to be returned directly to the seller and not to Amazon.com.

To be eligible for a refund, you must return your item to your seller in the same condition you received it, and the return must be postmarked within one week of receipt. Shipping and handling charges for returning an item are borne by the buyer.

Refunds

Sellers can create full refunds for buyers, including refunds of original shipping costs.

  • When you purchase an item using Amazon.com Payments, your seller must request a refund for you using Amazon.com Payments. This is the only way for your original item charges and shipping charges to be returned to you. Refunds are typically processed within one week of the seller's request. The funds will be deposited back in your credit card account, and Amazon.com will send you confirmation of the refund via e-mail.
  • When you purchase an item and pay the seller directly, using a check or money order, your seller can refund you directly.

In any case where a refund is necessary--such as when your seller is out of stock and cannot ship, or when you return an item--it is the responsibility of the seller to create a refund for you. Amazon.com provides sellers with instructions about how to create refunds.

In the unusual event that you are unable to reach an amicable agreement with your seller, see our section on problems with sellers.
