Amazon Daily

Amazon Daily is a blog-short for "web log"-that contains posts from editors all over our site. Whether you are a die-hard fiction lover, a gadget geek, an avid collector of classic films or just a fan of what we sell, you'll find all sorts of entries that will interest you. Amazon Daily's homepage contains all editorial posts (sorted so the most recent entries appear at the top), and in the side bar you will find Topics where posts are sorted, so you can browse one concept at a time instead of taking all of it in at once! Each post gives you the opportunity to provide feedback to the sender as to whether you liked the post or not, as well as leave public comments for other customers to see. You can mark your favorite posts to read for later, or email them to a friend to share in the fun!

  • Do I have to view all of Amazon Daily at once?
Amazon Daily is an ultimate collection of posts from our editorial authors. Each of these posts have topics associated to them, concepts that the post fits into. You can see these topics at the bottom of each post, and in the right-hand column of "More Posts." By clicking on one of these topics, you can view all posts tagged with that concept, starting from current time and going back to the beginning of Amazon Daily. Posts can be associated with many concepts, so if you like a particular post, find the "More posts" section at the bottom of that article. The topics associated to it might be helpful in deciding where to navigate next.

All of the posts in different topics also appear on Amazon Daily's homepage. Paging backward through time will allow you to read all posts in the order they were created.

    Can I customize Amazon Daily?
Although Amazon Daily is a singular blog meant for all customers, you have the option to alter the content displayed for you. By visiting the Customize Amazon Daily page, you can choose not to receive certain subjects you know you will dislike. When you are viewing a page of blog posts by subject, you can decide to block that subject from appearing in Amazon Daily as well. Finally, if you view a post you dislike in Daily, you can click "Why is this post in Amazon Daily" in the options menu. This will allow you to tell us what subject about the post you disliked, so that you will cease viewing posts like that in the future.

What if I accidentally blocked something from Daily?
Anytime you uncheck a topic, you can immediately recheck the same box to ensure you will still see those types of posts in Amazon Daily. Also, at any time you can return to either that subject blog or the Customize Amazon Daily page to change your preferences on what you receive.

Are there other people blogging besides Amazon editors?

    What happened to my Plog?

You will also see an options menu, which has many interesting features. As more interactive features for each post are introduced they will be added into the options menu.

    What is a Permalink?
A Permalink, short for permanent link, is a page that displays only the single post you are reading and is independent of Amazon Daily. If you click on "permalink" on a post, you can bookmark the post or copy the URL from the resulting page and e-mail it to friends.

    What is a Comment?
A comment is a statement that a customer makes in response to an author's or editor's post. Comments should be directly related to the post or a comment about the post made from another customer. For more information on writing comments, please refer to our Comment Guidelines. You can make as many comments as you like.

How do I comment on a post?
You must log into Amazon to write a comment. To log in, click on the link labeled "Sign in to get personalized recommendations" at the top of any Amazon page.

When viewing a post, either on a blog page or in Amazon Daily, click on the 'Comment' link that appears at the end of the post. This will take you to a page where you can enter your comment. If no comments have been made yet, yours will be the first. Otherwise, the number of previous comments made will appear in parentheses.

Authors may turn off the comment feature on anything they post to their blog. If the 'Comment' link is disabled, the author has chosen not to receive comments about that post.

Will the author read my comment and respond?
Comments you submit are posted for all customers to read, but are not e-mailed directly to the author. Authors may visit Amazon and read customer comments; however, it is up to them whether they choose to respond.

Can I edit or delete my comment?
Yes, click 'Edit' on any comment that you have made to make changes (you need to be signed in with the same account you used to write the comment). You can then change the text or delete the posted comment. The date of your original comment and the date of your change will appear for others to see.

How is voting and feedback different than posting a comment?
If you do not wish to post a public comment, you can let the author know if you liked the post or not. Each post from an author includes a voting option at the bottom of the entry. After you vote yes or no you will be given the opportunity to tell the author of the post what you thought of it-this message will be visible to the author and no one else.

Are you giving authors my personal information?
