The Southern Nevada Health District is providing flu vaccines beginning tomorrow, October 2, 2007. The vaccine offers protection from seasonal flu for 8 months. According to the SNHD, the flu season in southern Nevada usually peaks in February, so October and November are the best times to get vaccinated. There are no anticipated vaccine shortages this season.
The cost for the shot is $30. Pneumonia vaccines are also available for $45. (Bring cash. The following payments are also accepted: Medicare Part B, Medicare Railroad Part B, Medicaid, Secure Horizons and Senior Dimensions. The insurance or Medicaid card must be shown at the time of service.
The vaccine offered is the standard flu shot and will be given, Monday through Friday,
