When they took Kana, environmentalist reporter Kouji Segawa was killed while he attempted to protect her. However, he was resurrected by the Earth Spirits as Kamen Rider J in order to save Kana while defending planet Earth against the Fog Mother and her children, who sought to destroy all life on it as they had before.

[edit] Characters

  • Kouji Segawa / Kamen Rider J (瀬川 耕司 / 仮面ライダーJ Segawa Kōji / Kamen Raidā Jei?): An environmentalist reporter who was killed by the Fog Mother's child Agito when they took Kana. He is revived as Kamen Rider J by the Earth Spirits to defend the planet from the Fog Mother and her children.
  • Kana Kimura (木村 加那 Kimura Kana?): Kouji's young friend who was captured by Fog Mother's children so she can be sacrificed.

[edit] FOG

Monsters whose very presence is signaled by a mass amount of mist. Even millennium, the Fog Mother gives birth to a new brood to feed on the occupants of the world she lanaded on. One such brood was responsible for the mass extinction of the dinosaurs, which were their sole food supply.75,000,000 Years later, Fog Mother returned to Earth with a new brood while her three children performed the ritualistic praying before going out to obtain the sacrfice for their siblings to feed on.

  • Fog Mother (フォッグマザー Foggu Mazā?): The Fog Mother is an alien parasite in a gold cybernetic battle fortress who sent her three oldest children to obtain the ideal human sacrfice for their "to-be-born" siblings to feed on before devouring the rest of the human race. Her machine-body can shoot bullets from the gatling guns on her body, shoot a laser from its right eye, emit circular-like sawblades from its left eye, lower its pincers on her machine to grab, and emit insect-like legs from the torso to attack. She can feel pain if her machine is attacked. After Garai was slain, Fog Mother attempted to disgest Kamen Rider J, but he received a power-boost that enlarged him while killing her newborn spawn. He impaled the Fog Mother with his fist to pull out Kana. Kamen Rider J got free from her clutches and broke her pincers and insect-like legs. She was finally killed when Kamen Rider J used a mega-sized Rider Kick. As a last effort to destroy Kamen Rider J, she used her true inner form to grab him to take with her to destruction, but he got free and escaped as the machine exploded.
  • Garai (ガライ Garai?): The oldest of the Fog Mother's children, assuming the form of a youngman. He is called the "Prince" from the Fog Mother. His true form is Cobra Man. An armored cobra-like monster who wields a laser saber, a constricting whip, and can use a ball that can turn into a claw. He preceded to carry out the ceremony while his younger siblings battled J. He eventually took on Kamen Rider J himself to keep the sacrifice going, until Berry came to his aid in vain. But with Kana now in the egg chamber and Berry knocked out, Garai absorbed the surround mist to assume his true form. Garai was even stronger in this form when Kamen Rider J impaled a sharp object in him. Garai used his ball attack on him. When Kamen Rider J got free from it, he used the Rider Kick to knock Garai unto the alter, fatally wounding him.
  • Zu (ズー ?): Assuming the form of a young woman, her true form is Bee Woman. A colorful female insect monster with ability to fly with the wings on her head and shoot needles from her hands. She was the one who kidnapped Kana for the sacrfice. Upon news of Agito's death, Zu was sent to avenge her brother. She used her crimson ribbons to trap Kouji and drop him from the skies after shedding her human form. But he assumed Rider form and overpowered her on his bike and on foot. She shot Kamen Rider J in the arm with one of her needle attack, grabbing him and taking him into the air. She was mortally wounded upon collision with the Fog Mother's ship, seeing Garai one final time before she died and faded into the mist.
  • Agito (アギト Agito?): Assuming the form of a middle-aged man, his true form is Lizard Man. An alligator monster with poisonous fangs and a constricting tail. He was the one who killed Kouji, bend on killing him again upon learning that Koji was still alive. When encountered the second time by Kouji, he shedded his human form and attacked Kouja and being the first one to encounter Kouji in his Kamen Rider J form. He overpowered J until he took poked his eye out. [edit] Trivia

  • The "J" in his name had several meanings. "Jumbo" for his "Jumbo Formation" (growing ability), Ishinomori stated it stood for "Judge"; the movie's writer, Shozo Uehara, written it to stand for "Jupiter" as in the Roman name for Zeus; because the name couldn't be agreed upon, it was kept "J" due to its various meanings.
  • As seen in the finale of the movie, and also in the Kamen Rider World short (in which Kamen Rider ZO and Kamen Rider J team up), J is the only Kamen Rider who is able to grow to a giant size, very much like Ultraman.
  • A concept drawing of the Fog Mother can be seen in one of the opening scenes of 1995's Mechanical Violator Hakaider as a wanted poster inside a JesusTown checkpoint.
  • Some footage was used in episodes of Masked Rider, "Saturday Morning Invasion", "Stranger from the North", and "Ectophase Albee".
  • Kamen Rider J's opening had no show up theme song but an ending theme song they show up, the name song called "Heart Catching Love". This song was singing by Hideo Ishikawa & Horie Yui.
