While the public has submitted many worthwhile
cases, the Center cannot accept many of them due
to the limits of its Legal Agenda.
The Center's legal department does
not address:
- Criminal cases or wrongful convictions
- Family law
- Commercial or consumer litigation
- Land disputes
- Individual claims for damages
Cases that do fall within the Legal Agenda and involve important legal or civil rights questions may receive legal assistance. Such assistance is offered to individuals, not attorneys. To learn more and submit an online request, please see the Individual Legal Assistance page.
Attorneys seeking help with a specific case should investigate the Center's Strategic Litigation Grant Project..
If your case does not fall within the Center's requirements, you may wish to contact organizations that may be better equipped to assist you. Please consult the list at right.
Important information about requesting assistance:
Both types of assistance require documents and other information. All requested information must be included. Do not send originals. The Center cannot respond to questions about cases not selected to receive assistance.
