As one of the first public, nontraditional institutions to receive regional accreditation by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, we have enabled more than 50,000 students to earn a degree since 1971.

For the 2006-2007 academic year, 17,500 students enrolled at Empire State College. Our students are motivated, our programs are personalized. Faculty work with students in individual, small groups, short-term residency’s and online learning modes. Central to the faculty role is helping adults design and complete individualized degree plans. Our Faculty is uniquely dedicated and supportive. We have 155 full-time faculty members of which more than 96% hold terminal degrees. Our annual budget is $63 million.

We are accredited, respected and known as an innovator and leader. The college is a pioneer in mentoring adult learners, prior learning assessment, and on-line learning. Empire State College was a key contributor in establishing the SUNY Learning Network.
