Agnes Scott is proud to be ranked among the top eight colleges in the entire southeast, from Texas to Maryland, according to U.S. News & World Report's annual "Best Colleges" report. In 2004 two of our students won Goldwater scholarships, the premier national award in math and science, more than either Emory or Georgia Tech. The Higher Education Data Sharing Consortium Baccalaureate Origins study for 1992-2001 reported that with 6 percent of its graduates going on to earn Ph.D.s, Agnes Scott ranked in the top 5 percent of all colleges and universities nationally. Among academic disciplines, when compared to all institutions, Agnes Scott ranked 13th for graduates who went on to earn Ph.D.s in economics, placing the college in the top 1 percent. A ranking of 23rd for ASC students who went on to earn Ph.D.s in sociology and the medical sciences placed the college in the top 2 percent, according to the HEDS study. Recognizing that exceptional students aren't always blessed with the ability to pay full tuition and room and board, Admission and Financial Aid staff work together to attract some of the nation's most gifted and capable students.
