  • Founded by the University System of Georgia Board of Regents in 1963, Kennesaw Junior College officially opened its doors to 1,014 students in September 1966. Over the years, baccalaureate and master’s degree programs were added and in 1996 the institution became Kennesaw State University.

KSU Now

  • KSU currently boasts nearly 20,000 students in more than 55 academic programs. In addition to its nationally recognized undergraduate and master’s degree programs, KSU will offer its first doctoral program, a Doctor of Education in Leadership for Learning, in spring 2007.
  • Kennesaw State is home to more than 1,500 international students representing 132 countries.
  • Working at KSU are 625 full-time faculty members, including approximately 75 percent holding the doctorate degree.
  • KSU is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) with the Commission on Colleges endorsement. Additionally, KSU holds several national professional accreditations including the National Council of Accreditation for Teacher Education (NCATE), Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), Georgia Board of Nursing and many others.

  • More than 40 undergraduate degree programs are offered in the arts, humanities, social sciences, mathematics, natural sciences, accounting, business fields, teacher education, computing and information systems, and nursing. A number of applied undergraduate and graduate certificate programs are also offered.
  • Graduate degrees in the areas of accounting, business, education, conflict management, professional writing, public administration, nursing, information systems, and applied computer science are available as well.

Student activities

  • More than 100 clubs, organizations and athletic activities, including sororities, fraternities, service organizations, honor societies and intramural activities keep the campus alive with excitement and activity.

  • The KSU Owls entered NCAA Division I and the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2005. Prior to joining Div. I, the Owls boasted of several NCAA Division II national championships in women’s soccer, men’s basketball, softball and baseball.
