About Quinnipiac University

Located in Hamden, Connecticut at the base of Sleeping Giant Mountain in a uniquely attractive New England setting between New York City and Boston, Quinnipiac University is the ideal setting for educators searching for a supportive and stimulating environment where they can help shape the intellectual and personal growth of undergraduate and graduate students.

Quinnipiac enrolls more than 5,200 full-time undergraduate and 2,000 graduate students in more than 50 undergraduate and 17 graduate programs of study in its Schools of Business, Communications, Health Sciences, and College of Liberal Arts, which includes a Division of Education. Quinnipiac also has a College of Professional Studies, which offers bachelor's and master's level degree programs in Organizational Leadership specifically designed for adult learners who wish to advance their careers through leadership development. Quinnipiac also has a School of Law, which is approved by the American Bar Association.

Quinnipiac also has 21 men's and women's varsity teams playing in NCAA Division 1.

The Core Values Guiding Quinnipiac

Those who join the 280 full-time members of the Quinnipiac faculty become part of an educational team that embodies the university's commitment to its three important core values: excellence in education, a sensitivity to students, and a spirit of community. Academic programs and services are offered in a highly personalized learning environment featuring small classes and close interaction between faculty and students, reflecting the university's commitment to excellence in teaching.

To help faculty excel in the classroom, the university created the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Service to Students to encourage, support and recognize superior teaching and service to students. The center serves as an important vehicle in helping Quinnipiac achieve its educational mission consistent with its three core values. Each year, The Center recognizes members of the Quinnipiac community for their extraordinary contributions to students by presenting awards for excellence in teaching and excellence in service to students at an annual recognition dinner.

Faculty scholarship is supported by sabbaticals, summer research grants, grants to internationalize the curriculum, and support for professional conference participation. Faculty development, in both teaching and research, is a hallmark of the university.

Award Winning Facilities

Quinnipiac is a university for academicians who like to teach in a supportive, high-tech and collegial environment, where learning takes place at many levels beyond the traditional teacher-classroom setting. State-of-the-art facilities, which have won numerous awards for design, enhance and enrich students' learning. The critical care unit in the School of Health Sciences accurately simulates a fully-equipped hospital setting, while the unique eight-camera kinematic Motion Analysis Laboratory is dedicted to the study of human movement. The Ed McMahon Mass Communications Center houses a high definition television studio, digital editing suites, and an electronic journalism center. The Terry W. Goodwin Financial Technology Center is a high-tech simulated trading floor providing students an opportunity to access real-time financial data, conduct interactive trading simulations, and develop financial models preparing them for careers in finance. The Arnold Bernhard Library has multiple workstations for group and individual work; many are laptop compatible, making research easy, and convenient.

Learning Has No Bounds

Recognizing that learning has no bounds, Quinnipiac requires students to take a core curriculum regardless of their enrollment in a particular school or program. The core curriculum provides an introduction to the liberal arts, the humanities, and the sciences. Faculty members are implementing a new series of core curriculum seminars, which will lead the student from a freshman semester introduction to the local community to exploration of the national and global communities in later semesters. Members of the Quinnipiac faculty have opportunities for international work through Quinnipiac's links with other universities and international programs. Faculty also work with the staff of the Albert Schweitzer Institute which conducts U.S. and international programs that focus on health, humanitarianism and peace, linking education, ethics and voluntarism.

Quinnipiac consistently ranks among the top universities with master's programs in the Northern region in US News and World Report's America's Best Colleges. The Princeton Review has also recognized Quinnipiac as one of the best universities in the country. For more information, please visit www.quinnipiac.edu
