Damn, this is a funny topic name
Pearl curved seems to be a favourite, the straight less so. There have been romours about gibraltars racks slipping because they are circular but that's a load of bs.
I'd say pearl, cause you can't really go wrong with their hardware. _________________ ...I'll run this body into the ground until it flys...

the gibraltor rack clamps DO so slip, but not a great deal. The tom mounts do move and fall out of place, but it's not a huge problem, more of an annoyence _________________ Idiot protests, from luxury of safety, ignorant of facts

Hmm, I've heard both sides of the spectrum so to speak, how they are just as solid as pearl etc, and never move, and other stories that they do move, alot, and sortof inbetween like this. It's confusing what to believe _________________ ...I'll run this body into the ground until it flys...

Pearl Icon buddy. I own one, play a lot of shows and its way better than having to set up a ton of cymbal stands. I dont break mine down. I just fold it up so it will fit in the trailer.
But I use the straight rack. B/c the curved is HUGE but it may work for you. The square tubing is a great idea never have to worry about slippage. And its consitant Pearl hardware.

you can see the rack i have in the "My Setup" section deilidriver. the one i got does slip, but the idea of square tubing is ALOT better then the round. _________________ Idiot protests, from luxury of safety, ignorant of facts

Well, I had a tama power rack and it is pretty equal to the gibby racks.
It was hell to setup and it sliped all over the place.
I needed to wear glows to tighten the clamps har enough and even then they sliped.
I could not hang my 13" and 14" tom on it. so i tried to hang the 14" on a stand and the 13" on the rack.....no luck stil slipping. So the only toms on the rack was the 8 -10 & 12".
The rack also moved around alot when i played the drums.
And for the family jewels part of the story:
I was practising with the band when i hit my left 18" china, The rack slips ----> the china comes down direct towards my croch
it hit my inner tie and missed my nuts by 1,5"...... it hurt one can say, because it was one of those heavy ass oldschool boomstands with the big lead weight on the back (like the one i mount my ride on now)
that rack almost made me Vargissa!!!
In other words: a CRAP RACK!!!!!! _________________ *Senior Moderator - Bow your heads*
