According to British tradition dating from the 18th century and practiced widely in the Commonwealth, cavalry regiments carry one crimson Standard or Guidon, and infantry carry two flags -- the King's/Queen's Colour (national flag) and a Regimental Colour. Artillery and other units do not carry colours.
