ABOUT PRINT AUSTRALIA

Print Australia is a Studio Dalwood project. It was launched in late 1999 to address a lack of information on the internet about printmaking in general, and Australian printmaking in particular.

The site's first main online area was the catalogue of links to relevent websites. The catalogue is a popular and well accessed resource.

By January 2000, the mailing list was established on what is currently Yahoo Groups. The mailing list forms the backbone of the site's membership and its activities. About the list and how to join.

The first Print Australia project was the Sacred Tree print exchange, which took place in early 2000. This folio of exchange prints has since been exhibited in both Europe and the USA. Following its success, Print Australia has continued to hold exchanges and exhibitions at regular intervals.

The Impressions online gallery was established as a record of all Print Australia activities and the exchanges and exhibition information may be found there.

Members are encouraged to submit information about themselves and links to their websites via the members page, or by inclusion in the library catalogue.

Print Australia continues to grow and to change as time passes.

Management

Studio Dalwood is owned and operated by Josephine Severn, an artist currently living just north of Sydney, Australia.

Josephine is disabled from spinal injuries received in a car accident and she suffers from chronic back pain. A former accountant, she has degrees in commerce, adult education and visual arts, plus a wealth of management experience which she applies to the administration of the site and its activities.

She receives some assistance with organisational tasks and html from family and members as need arises.

Funding

Neither Studio Dalwood nor Print Australia receive any grant funding at the current time. All financial outlays are funded privately via donation. A partial contribution to expenses is generated through member activities. All labour is volunteered.

There are no joining or membership fees for use of the site or the mailing list.

Fundraising (commenced September 2002)

Print Australia is in urgent need of new computer and multi-media equipment, including software and disability aids. As most government funding bodies do not supply grants for the purchase of capital equipment, Print Australia members are campaigning to raise the necessary funds through donation.

If you find the site is of assistance to you, and you would like to help, please send in a cash donation (payable to Josephine) to the mailing address below.

If you can help in another fashion or would like to sponsor the site, please contact Josephine on the email address below.
